Creating Beautiful 3D Landscapes is About to Get Easier

Owners of Bryce 6.x from DAZ 3D can now join in open development of Bryce 7. The new initiative was announced on the company forums on January 13, catching the community by surprise. DAZ 3D is looking for feedback as they work on Bryce 7 to try and make the software the best possible, and despite many new features already added there are bound to be many more additions to the software before release. However this is just the first beta version and DAZ has promised more before the final release.

This is a beta release, meaning there are some issues and bugs in the program, and I would suggest not removing your previous installation. However running Bryce 7 beta alongside 6.x can show how far the program comes with this new release. The program does indeed run faster and renders faster, and the new Lightning Network Rendering Client also has increased performance. This should help those users out there who, like me, have had to contend with hours and hours of computers time rendering an image or an animation.

Also new to this release is support for Windows Vista and 7's file structure. The biggest change however to me is the implementation of Serial Number management which will enable different features being unlocked within the same program. This means that one download can be a time limited demo, then a low price version with some features, and finally a full priced heavyweight, all from the same download. Now my friends can try the program without having to resort on downloaded copies or paying a hefty fee just for what they consider a trial.

DAZ 3D knows that some artists and creative people out there have not yet gotten Bryce 6.x and have put the whole collection on sale for a limited time. The best part, new users of 6.x can still get in on the beta release. Previous owners and new owners of 6.x will find Bryce 7 in their accounts download list.

It has been a long time since DAZ has done anything with Bryce, they released 5.5 after acquiring it from Corel in 2004 and then they released 6.0 in 2006. The only change since then has been Bryce 6.3 last year which was just bug fixes, so it might be fair to say that Bryce 7 has been 4 years in the making now, and so far the future of the program is promising.
