Creating Chapters in iDVD with Your Apple Macbook Laptop

SDR2010
Earlier this month I was lucky enough to be able to find a great deal on a Macbook laptop at my local Best Buy. When I got there they only had two left and so I was very happy that I was able to get one. The only catch was that the laptop came with Ilife 2008 and not the new 2009 version. However, I did save almost $100 on the laptop so I would consider this a great deal. One of the problem that I have run into as a new Macbook owner is that very few people know how to use the iDVD program. I was looking to create a videodisc of a project that I shot for school and I needed to be able to present this the students in my class.

I search around on Google for a method of inserting chapters into the disc but I was unable to find anything that explained how to do so in a very simple method. I did find some other methods that ruined the video quality and created a low quality project of compressed video. However, after a lot of time and effort I figured out the easiest and simplest way to insert chapters into your DVD that you create in the iDVD program.

First, open the IDVD program and you will see a number of options for creating your DVD. You should select the option, which says "Magic IDVD", and you will be asked to select a template for your project. You will need to click the desired theme and then drag your video file into the box that reads, "drag movie here".

Once you have done this you will need to select the video file after pressing the button at the bottom of the screen that says, "crate project". You need to highlight the video file and then click down the themes list on the right side of your screen. You need to click the theme that says "chapters" while you have the movie selected. You then go to the advanced tab and click on "create chapter markers". At this point you will be asked to select the duration for each chapter. Select the amount of time and press ok then you will get an error message. You should press ok and then press file and save. Once you do this project will have created your chapters in the movie and you can burn or add additional movies.
