Signing Up
You'll need a Facebook account of your own to make a Fan Page. Sign up for a personal account on Facebook at Facebook.com. The account you use to create your Fan Page will be used as the administrator for the new page. You'll need to be logged into your personal account in order to access the Facebook Fan Page for your company or blog.
Creating a Fan Page
Once logged into your account, click the "Ads and Pages" link at the left side of your screen. Choose "Create Page" to start the page creation process. Choose the page category from the list. If you have a local business, such as a bakery or florist shop, choose "Local Business". Choose "Brand, product or organization" if you are making a page for your company, product or blog. Individuals, such as singers, bands and senators should choose "Artist, band or public figure." The resulting Fan Page will be tailored to work with your business or purpose.
Give a title to your Page. Avoid flowery titles and instead choose the exact name of your business, blog or product. "Missoula Software Initiative" is easier to search for than "Popular Missoula Software Company." Click the "Create Official Page" button to create your new Facebook Page.
Personalizing the Facebook Page
Once you've creating your Page, you need to personalize the look. Upload your company or blog logo in the Photos section and set it as your main image. If you created a Fan Page for your art or photography, upload samples of your work to the photos section.
Under info, fill out the basic information of your Fan Page subject. If you have a website separate from Facebook, add a link in the Website section under Detailed Info to increase traffic.
Updating the Facebook Fan Page
Increase website traffic and loyal readers by updating to your Facebook Page regularly. Use the status section on the Page's Wall to upload new blog post links, videos, pictures and events. Update this section at least once a week to keep your fans informed and to remind them of your business. If you hold a giveaway on your blog, update your fans through the Page to increase the amount of people who enter.
Advertising Your Facebook Page
Facebook offers on-site advertising for Fan Pages. When you purchase advertising, your fan page is displayed on the left-hand side of the screen so anyone using Facebook can hear about your page. To start advertising, go to the "Ads and Pages" on the left side of the main screen. Click the green "Promote Your Page" link at the top of the page. From here, you can choose how your advertisement looks, such as the image and text. Choose who you want to see this advertisement to avoid advertising to people outside of your target market. The price for advertising varies based on the daily budget and maximum pay for clicks that you choose. Once you agree to payment, your ad will show up on Facebook to advertise your fan page.
