You can make some toys out of some items around your time. The only thing that you will need is some food coloring to use as paint. Since paint is not safe for birds to eat, we will use food coloring instead to give the tubes some color. You will want to save all of your toilet paper roll tubes and paper towel tubes as well. Save all of the tubes and keep them somewhere so that you can keep on replacing the toys when they get ruined or broken.
You can keep a couple of old glass or mugs and place some food dye in the water. Make sure that the food dye isn't very watered down or you wont have much color on your tubes. Add a little bit of food coloring and then mix it up to see if that will be enough color. You can purchase food coloring in many different colors to make your tubes more colorful.
As you see it will not cost you much to make some new toys for your bird. You will already have the toilet paper and paper towel rolls. The only thing that you will need to purchase is some food coloring if you do not already have some. If you already have food coloring than it will not cost you anything to make and keep up on the bird toys. Make sure that you use around at least 4 different colors to give the bird something colorful. You can cut the tubes as small as you would like to. I would suggest cutting the tube length wise to make sure that the tube doesn't get stuck around the birds head.
This is a good way to provide your bird with some new toys. They will not cost you any money. You can simply purchase a bottle of food coloring each time you go to the grocery store. Make sure to keep the tubes and not throw them away.
