It's Time to Become a Super Hero!

A homemade Incredible Hulk costume should be easily achievable with minimal investment. A trip to the grocery store for a few basics will help you accomplish the look you want. You may also wish to look around the drug store or local Halloween Costume shop for the best deal on the items you need. Be sure to shop in a timely manner, as the Halloween season is the best time to find good deals on costume elements. Green makeup, green hairspray and a black makeup pencil should do the trick.

Obviously you can find full Hulk costumes however, often times homemade costumes actually look better and are more comfortable to wear for extended periods of time. Check your local craft store for green clothing dye if you do not have a long sleeved tight fitting green shirt. Check your local Goodwill store for the shirt if you do not have one that fits tightly enough, you will want this shirt to be like a second skin.

As Halloween is chilly you will want to dye a long sleeved shirt to a nice green color. Of course if you already have a green long sleeved shirt then dying will be unnecessary. You will also want a plain loose fitting white t-shirt. Cut the t-shirt in jagged lines around the hem, and place a few holes in various areas. Cut the sleeves off and open the neck up a bit as well. Put the tight fitting green shirt on first and use rolled up socks to create large biceps. Layer the cut up white shirt over the green.

An old pair of brown pants is also needed however if you don't have brown, any color will do. You need to cut the pants off in the same jagged fashion just below the knee.

Finally you will want apply the green makeup to the face, hands and exposed part of the legs. Use your black colored makeup pencil to draw in muscle definition on the cheeks and jawline, use a picture of the Hulk found easily on the web as a guide. Then apply the green hairspray. A darker green will look more authentic than a neon color so be sure to pay attention during purchase. A trial run may do you good, so that you can work out any glitches or costume errors early. Then on Halloween get dressed and have fun.
