Creating Kindergarten Memories

Bernadette
Kindergarten is a big step for a child, especially a child that did not attend preschool. This article will give you some ideas and tips on how to make the first day of kindergarten and the entire first year of kindergarten memorable for your child and you.

Celebrate the First Day of Kindergarten
After the first day of kindergarten, a special dinner would be a nice way to celebrate this special time in your child's life. You might prepare the child's favorite food and dessert. If possible, invite the child's grandparents or other close relatives to share in the celebration of the day.

Photos
Taking some photos of your child on the first day of kindergarten is a nice idea. You might want to take some photos at home and perhaps some more in front of the school. If your child has friends going to school, a few with their friends are nice too. Do not forget to include yourself in some of the photos as the proud parent. These photos will be cherished today and as the child grows up, evoking pleasant memories.

Scrapbook
Kindergarten is an important step in your child's life, so it would be nice if you could make a scrapbook, together with your child, which would highlight their kindergarten school year. You can purchase a scrapbook and fill it with photos, schoolwork, a report card, etc. This is truly a wonderful keepsake of the child's first year of school. A scrapbook is also something to be cherished because it is full of memories.

Calendar
Purchase a calendar with enough space to write down various school events, such as class trips, school assemblies, etc. on the calendar. One choice could be a desk pad calendar because they usually have large enough sections to write daily activities. Your writing of the various school activities, on the calendar, with your child can demonstrate to your child that school can be an exciting and enjoyable place to learn and have fun.

School Supplies
Once you have a list of the school supplies your child will need, you can try to take your child shopping with you to buy those school supplies. Perhaps your child can pick out their favorite pencil case, lunch box if needed, etc. They will most likely enjoy using their kindergarten school supplies that they chose while shopping with you.

Hope that you were able to get some ideas to help you create some kindergarten memories for your child and you during the school year.
