Tile kitchen backsplash
Tile is one of the most often used materials in kitchen backsplashes, because it allows for many different looks and designs. It is easy to work with, and can be one of the least expensive materials for a kitchen backsplash.
Mosaic tiles are becoming more and more popular for kitchen backsplashes. There are many different tiles to choose from, and you can easily install these yourself or have it professionally done. The price varies depending on what style of tile you choose and how much tile you have to get, but they usually start at about $12 for tile and go up from there.
Fused glass tiles are also a great option for a backsplash. These tiles look great in just about any style of kitchen, but the only downside is that they can be pretty expensive. If you are not looking to spend a lot of money, then these are not the best choice. Also be sure to find out how many tiles you need before purchasing or that can cost you.
Glass tiles are not the same as fused glass tiles. These types of tiles are usually a lot less expensive than the fused glass tiles, but they look just as great. Glass tiles can be found at just about every home improvement stores and some private companies that specialize in tiles, and they average about $27 per tile.
Stone kitchen backsplash
Natural stones are another very popular choice for backsplashes. Marble, granite, and tumble stone make great backsplashes. These stone can be used to make designs or a very simple backsplash, either way it is guaranteed to look great. If you already have granite counter tops, it would be best to stick with tiles, or at least make sure that the colors are different. If you choose to do your backsplash in one of these stones, you will have to seal them in order to prevent any stains.
Steel and plates backsplash
Depending on the style of your kitchen, steel may be a great fit for your backsplash. There are a lot of options for designs when using steel, you can have the steel cut into squares, you can apply it as is, or you can find something of your own. The price of steel can range from $30 to $100 per square foot, so it all depends on your budget. You also have to be careful with steel, it gets dirty and stains very easily.
Using broken plates is also a great way to create a backsplash for your kitchen. This is similar to using tiles, but your end product will look more like a mosaic. All you have to do is use the remnants of broken plates, or buy plates especially for this purpose and break them, and create a design or apply them randomly to the wall to create your backsplash.
