Creating a Pumpkin Floral Piece

Shannon Frye
This is one of the cutest Halloween decorations that I have ever seen. You can make a pumpkin floral piece for cheap. You will need to drive to your local craft store and purchase some different colored flowers that you will want to look at. Make sure that the stems are made from plastic, otherwise they will probably get ruined and you will not be able to re use them. I would try to find some black and orange flowers that will go great for Halloween. This floral arrangement looks wonderful on your kitchen table.

Now you will want to purchase a good sized pumpkin. You can get a pumpkin from your local grocery store next time you are there. You will want to purchase a pumpkin that is easy to carry around. You don't want it too small or too large. You will need to cut a circle around the stem. You might want to cut through it several times to you don't rip the stem off when you try to pull this section out. Now you will want to scoop out all of the seeds and insides out of the pumpkin. You don't want to leave any section of the inside of the pumpkin dry. You will want to scoop out at much as you can with your hands. Then you will want to use some type of a spoon to scoop the rest of the insides out. You don't want any seeds or strings left inside of the pumpkin.

You will want to let the pumpkin sit out and dry for at least a day. When the pumpkin is completely dry on the inside you will want to go and grab your flowers that you purchased from the craft store. Line them up on the outside of the pumpkin to see if you need to trim them. If you have any flowers which have very sharp points on the end, you can poke them into the side of the pumpkin for a little bit more decoration. You can also throw some flowers all around the pumpkin for decoration.

There are many things that you can do with this pumpkin floral piece. It's very easy to make and very cheap as well. It will not cost you more than $10. You will probably want to do this no more than one month before Halloween. The pumpkin will eventually start to get moldy and you will need to toss the pumpkin. You can wash off the stems on the flowers and keep them if they didn't get ruined. You can use them next year for your pumpkin floral piece.
