Creating a Soft-Silver Smokey Eye Look

TommiH
Alright girls, today we are going to work on creating a Soft-Silver Smokey eye. This is a personal favorite of mine and it is a great look for dates, outings and all of the above.

Now we will be working with Coastal Scents 88 Palette, but I will also give you colors to watch for if you do not have one of these palettes. We will work with a total of four colors: metallic with light amount shimmer, light silver with small amount of shimmer, medium brown with a light shimmer, and matte black.

I will let you know where at all the palette the exact colors are during the tutorial, but those are colors you would need for this look. Also make sure you have an eye shadow brush and blending brush available (but you can honestly get away with only a blending brush).

Let's get started!

Step one:

Before I start, I always make sure I have clean eyes. So clean your eyes and apply an eye primer to the lid of your eye. Allow the primer a couple minutes to fully dry and take affect.

Step two:

Okay, so I lied, you need a fine-tip eyeliner brush too (forgot about that). Get a small amount of matte black shadow on the tip of your liner brush. Draw a very, and I do mean very, thin line going directly above your upper lashes. You actually want to draw the liner over the lash roots. You do not want a thick line whatsoever because we are looking for a more natural lash appearance.

Step three:

Now that you have a defined upper lash line, we are going to work with the metallic color. You can locate this color in the 11th column (left to right) and the second color down. Apply a light amount of the metallic color all over your lid and blend it out well.

Step four:
After your lid has the base color, apply a small amount of the light silver to your blending brush. You can find the light silver in the 11th column and the third color down. You are going to apply a light amount to half of your lid (starting by the tear duct and working your way to the center of your lid. This will cover some of the metallic coloring so half of your lid will be lighter and half with be darker (lighter section being closest to your nose and darker being on the outer corner of your eye).

Step five:
Now you need to get a small amount of the light brown with shimmer of your blending brush. You want to make sure you start off with a smaller amount and build or it will not come out looking right. You can find the light brown in the 11th column and it's the fourth color down.

Apply this color to the half of your lid that is darker (the outer corner portion of your lid). This color will also cover the metallic color, but make sure not to go over the lighter portion of your lid. Now blend this color over top the metallic color in circular motions. You are going to go above the lid just a little and lightly blend in toward the inner corner of your eye.

Step six:

Dab a little matte black onto your blending and brush then lightly dab the color on the outer corner of your eye, blending it inward. Blend the black extremely well. You don't really want the black to be noticeable. The black is to add a little smokey coloring to the look.

Step seven:

Apply a highlight to your brow bone and inner nose beside the inner eye corner. This will help give the eye a natural-open appearance.

Step eight:

Bring the metallic coloring down under your bottom lashes and a little in the waterline. Only apply the metallic color on your water line half way (so start in the outer corner and work your way toward the inner corner, but stop once you reach the half-way mark).

Step nine:

Get a little of the light silver color on your eyeliner brush and bring in to the under lash area. Apply this silver all the way from the outer corner of your bottom eye to the inner (by the tear duct). The silver will cover some of the metallic, but that just adds to the coloring (it's okay!).

Step ten:
Now for the final touches! Apply a medium coat of mascara to your upper lashes (not to the bottom). You can apply some natural looking false lashes if you desire a little more length.

That's all you have to do. I hope you enjoy your silver smokey look!
