Creating a Sports Photo Blog

Chris Knight
Photo blogs are quickly becoming the new trend on the Internet. You have probably heard of them and wonder to yourself how you can start one. There are actually many ways to start a successful photo blog, however, you will want to make sure that you have adequate knowledge of how the Internet works before you start one.

In order to start a sports photo-blog, you must know what it is; how to start off, and how to monetize it for profit. Monetization is probably the most important process of owning any website as it can become expensive.

What is a Photo blog?
Well first off, a blog is an online diary of information. There are many applications out there such as Wordpress, bloggers, and Livejournal. The best one for many bloggers to use is Wordpress, as it gives you an incredible variety of options to use. A Photoblog is a blog which is driven purely from photos. All of the information provided on the blog is defined mostly by pictures and a few lines or paragraphs of pictures.

Start Off With Smaller Sports Like High School
You may want to start off by photo blogging for certain schools or sports. For example, you may want to ask the school if you can be their official photo-blogger, and take pictures of all of their sports to post on a blog. You will need the equipment needed to produce high quality photos for these events.

You can start off with smaller high schools, move on to colleges, semi-pros, and even get to the professional level if you are actually good enough. You have to start somewhere, so you might want to make sure you start off with something that is low-cost, yet, profitable.

Start a Blog on based on Certain Regions
When you start expanding, you will want to make sure you keep in a certain region. Scattering your blog , and focusing on all different sports, and all around the nation can spell disaster for your blog. It is highly important that you keep your blog local until you produce enough income to start a serious expansion campaign.

You may want to focus on specific sports on one particular area. For example, if Volleyball's the most popular sport on a certain region, then you may want to set-up sports blogs for each high school in this region. By doing this, you can attract local people to become daily visitors to the blog. You can keep the business going by monetizing the blog as well.

Monetize the Blog, Keep the Business Going
There are literally hundreds of ways to monetize a blog. One way is to start putting Adsense ads on your blog. The great thing about Google's Adsense ads, are that they blend into the content. Therefore, when someone is reading it, the chances of them clicking a link is highly probable; as it looks like it's part of the content.

Other ways to monetize the blog is by researching e-mail marketing, affiliate marketing, and things of that nature. You may even want to start taking high quality pictures and selling posters to each and every school. By doing this, you can establish an incredible business and build a great amount of wealth.

Conclusion
Starting a sports photo-blog is one of the greatest decisions you have ever made, but it is important that you begin planning for the future now. Remember: the number one reason for business failure is lack of proper planning. Set goals and plan for the future.
