Creating a String of Ghosts for Halloween

Shannon Frye
Creating a string of ghosts is very easy. You will only have to purchase a few things from your local craft store. You will need to purchase a large sheet of black felt and a large sheet of white felt. If you want to make more than 3 or 4 ghosts you will want to purchase at least 3 sheets of white felt. Besides the black and white felt you will need to purchase some type of white yarn or black yard. You will also need to purchase some glue so that you will be able to glue all of the felt pieces together.

You will want to cut many different ghosts out of the white felt. You will make a basic design of a ghost, rounded at the top and jagged at the bottom. You can do this as many times so you would like to because these will be your ghosts. You can make many different designs or you can simply cut the first one and use that one as a template if you want them to all look the same. Now you will need to cut eyes and a mouth out of the black felt. If you don't have very much black felt you can just create the eyes.

Now you have two choices. You can either find a way to cut a hole in the fabric or you can glue the felt onto the yarn that you are using. If you want more decorative yarn you can purchase black and orange yard or you can purchase black and white yarn. You can hold on to the end of the yard and twist the two pieces of yard together. When you get about four inches you can tie a knot so that the yarn does not come undone.

When you are done you will have a number of different ghosts which are hanging from the string. You can glue the ghosts to the string or you can tie them to the string. You can hang them above your doorways or anywhere in your home. You can make a few new varieties every year and you can have your children help you with this craft as well. It's a lot of fun and it's not very expensive. It's a nice way to decorate your home without spending too much money or time on creating other decorations. You can purchase all of this for less than $20 from your local craft store.
