First you must do is decide that you truly want to be a superhero or woman in charge. Once you have made the decision then it's time to decide what you want to do and who or what you want to help. From children to neighborhoods to animals to landmarks. Everything is a target for the hero in all of us. As you decide what or who you would like to help we'll cover how you want to be viewed or hidden. Then we'll take a look at examples.
One kind of superhero is out front for everyone to see. You choose your own costume or calling card so everyone knows where to turn or who to call in time of need. Create a custom of classic elegance or bright colors. Remember that capes can get caught on various things in the real world so be careful what design you choose. Keep in mind your body type. Tight spandex is hard to look good in no matter who you are so create a more casual look with adornments for the effect you would like.
Now for the hero whose identity will never be revealed. From masks to every day clothes this hero will perform when no one can recognize him or her or will perform in secret. The antihero is the one no one really knows is working for their good behind the scenes of their own little world. The antihero works in the dark, the alley ways, the offices across America and the world. The antihero gathers information and makes a plan and good is done to the bad guy sometimes in way which might not even be legal. But it's for the good of all in the end.
You must have a story. Even if no one knows your story you need to create your own fantasy past to push you into the future. Perhaps you were loved by someone you can no longer have in your life for their own good or maybe something bad happened to you and now you will rid the world of unkindness and crime. Just remember you can't save everyone, everything or solve every problem. You are the superhero if you just save one thing at a time. No more, no less.
Personality and deeds are your next quest. Will you be nice when you help others or save them from harm with a stern warning you'll return if they don't learn! Your personality will be your trademark in teaching the victim to stand up for themselves whenever they can. The antihero moves quietly without notice throughout the night among those who live in darkness to survive. Not all bad guys are really bad and not all good guy are good. False faces of hero's and antihero are also found on men of power and women of beauty. With respect comes the responsibility, but much of the time the bad guy or woman presents one image to the public and is very different behind closed doors.
If you seek fame from your hero persona you will need to be out front in the day light. Let the newspapers and televisions see what you can do for those you protect. The more they know the better you will become known. If you are the antihero you'll want to avoid the press and any public views when it comes to your good deeds. Keep quiet and don't share your adventures with family, friends or anyone else. You do what you do because it's right and for no other reason than that. You are mystery versus glory, but both are fine.
Superhero one is flashy, with bright colors for hair, shirt, ties, shoes or pants. He is open and friendly in a way that everyone feels welcome within his world. They know who he is and what he does. He is Animal Savior! He feeds the abandoned and finds them homes. He greets the public and enlist their help to buy food and donate to the Humane Society or just volunteer some time to pet a lonely cat. He makes sure they have water, are well treated by their owner and finds a way to help with the cost of vet bills for those less fortunate. He is Animal Savior!
Lady Of The Night. She is the antihero. She makes it her business to know which family is hungry and leave food on the door step in the early morning hours before they wake. She manages to get gift cards so the kids can have clothing for the start of school or a few supplies left in a basket. She will use the mail system to deliver messages of hope along with a $20.00 bill just because it's a nice thing to do for someone with kids to feed. She finds donations for movie tickets for a family that can't afford a night out with the kids or has pizza delivered to a home in turmoil and bring a smile to everyone's face. She finds a doctor to volunteer his time to give the kids dental exams or a tutor to help one learn to read a little better. She moves through the darkness of night or leaves unsigned happiness to those in need. She does not need the glory or to even know the results of her efforts. She knows she did the right thing. She is Lady Of The Night.
The Snow Man. In winter he moves from home to home and plows or clears driveways for neighbors. He uses a snow blower or small plow to clear their way so they can go to work and earn enough to keep a roof over their heads. In summer he mows lawns, rakes leaves and haul away limbs trimmed from trees. He provides children of the neighborhood with water guns for fun and smiles. He helps utilities to stay on for those without funds and provides blankets for those without homes. All he asks in return is to pass it on in any small way you can. He is The Snow Man.
You are ready to create your own superhero or antihero persona. When you are ready to help just begin in the area you choose or provide for those you see in need. Sometimes a superhero's greatest gift is to be a friend. To leave a smile, a rose, a bit of chocolate. Everyone should pursue the superhero dreams and make the world better for everyone in their own path. It's just the right thing to do.
