No matter which business you're in, you want to give your clients and customers value. You want to gain their trust so they do repeat business with you. This is especially important in service-based businesses, but these tips are really good for practically any online and offline business.
Share your personal experiences. More and more people are looking for a personal rapport with the businesses they do business with. This is especially true online. People aren't happy with faceless, robotic websites these days. They want to hear your story. How you created your success. They want to know if you have kids, cats, dogs and what you do on your free time. They also want to know where you started from. No one has experience when they first start out, but newbies often have the impression that a guru started at the top. Let them know you didn't start out an expert. Let them know you had struggles too.
People also want to hear about challenges and obstacles you overcame to reach the level of success you're at. Share the ups and downs with them. No one has had all ups, just like no one starts at the top. You may be selling a product, but to do that you need to sell yourself first.
Share the goals you've accomplished. Share things you're proud of. If you were a single mom and built your business from the ground up, share that story with people. Let them get to know you a little bit, let them know where you started.
Be authentic. If you're not real and authentic people will see through that. You create value by being yourself. Never put on a fake persona.
Develop rapport. If you have a website or blog, be sure to reply to comments. Most people hate visiting a great website with lots of good comments but the owner never responds to anyone. This is actually very rude. If you submit content to a lot of article directories you probably can't keep up with all those comments, but you can keep up with the comments that your own website generates. Set some time aside each day to at least reply to a few of them.
Go above and beyond what you promise. This one is extremely important. If you sell digital products online, make it the best you can and then give added bonuses when people make a purchase from you. This will entice them to return and buy more of your products.
Giving people value and developing a relationship with your clients and customers doesn't have to be difficult or time consuming. You just have to keep it as a priority in your business building efforts.
