Creating Wedding Favors Inexpensively

Sarah Holmes
I recently searched for inexpensive favors for my wedding. Here are the options I found and information on how to make some beautiful rose favors that I used for my wedding.

Everyone wants to say, "Thank-you" to their guests. After all, it is etiquette. However, wedding favors often come at a hefty price. I love giving gifts, but many people will throw their wedding favor away at the end of the day. How can you ensure that your guests will enjoy their wedding favors, keep them for a lifetime and you won't pay a pretty penny. I have news for you, no one can ensure their wedding guests will keep the favor. In fact most guests won't. However, here are some wedding favors that won't break the budget in case every guest decides to throw the favor away, and some of these gifts will be memorable enough that your guests may keep them.

1. Seed Packets, I have seen lovely seed packets made up at a wedding. You can create cute sayings on them discussing how you will "make your love grow".

2. Roses, I made these for my wedding. They look lovely and average about 25 cents a piece. I wanted a simply elegant wedding and these roses offered a nice touch. I placed one at each place. The roses looked as if I spent $1-$2 a piece. Since I had about 120 guests at my wedding, these gifts were elegant without breaking the budget. For these roses, you will need wire, floral tape, hershey kisses and saran wrap. Take two kisses and place them back to back so that they form a triangle. Then stick a wire in one of the hershey kisses. Now take a piece of colored saran wrap (in your favorite color....I took two colors of saran wrap and layered them to match my wedding colors) and place them over the hershey kisses. Now take the floral tape and wrap the wire from the bottom of the wire all the way up. You will need to wrap the bottom of the hershy kisses. This is an elegant gift that will truly tell your guests how thankful you are they came!

3. Bookmarks with the photograph of you and your fiance on them.

4. Bubbles. Although, I hesitated to do this. I did buy bubbles, but I didn't consider this a classy gift.

5. An inexpensive frame with your picture in it. If a friend takes a picture of you, you can get wallets developed for around 12 cents each at Sam's club.

6. Another idea my friend used at her wedding was she put tool around a large handful of tootsie rolls. This made a nice snack while we were waiting for the bride.

7. You can also buy mini vases and put violets or small wildflowers in each one. This would also serve to decorate the tables in place of a centerpiece.

These suggestions will help you create a beautiful wedding without breaking the budget.
