With the state of the economy it is almost a given that there are many job searchers out there. You need to dust off that old resume or perhaps create a new one. It's been five years or maybe fifteen years since you've been in the job market. How do you set yourself apart from the rest and create a winning resume? Simple. Microsoft Word. Microsoft Word resume templates will give you the professional edge you need and they are really easy to create. This step by step tutorial will guide you through how to create a resume template in Microsoft Word in ample time. What you need? Microsoft 2003 or Microsoft 2007. Please note that the Microsoft Word 2003 and Microsoft Word 2007 may differ just a bit.

1. Open up Microsoft Word

2. Click on the File menu and select New

3. Under Templates select Resume. You can choose from either a Basic template, a job specific template or a situation specific resume template. Let's choose basic for our example.

4. If you have the option, choose the Chronological Resume (Traditional Design)

5. Click on the download button. A new resume should appear in an editable format.

6. At the top of the page you can enter your address and contact information. Just below that you enter your name. Notice that Your Name is in larger font. Enter your objective, making sure it is clear and concise. For example, a good objective for a software developer looking for a new opportunity would be: "Experienced software developer with a passion for technology seeking a position leading a team with a dynamic and forward thinking company." You can then enter your experience and previous and past jobs as well as dates of employments and job titles. Lastly, enter your education and degrees obtained. Please leave the default "References available upon request." Make sure to have your references ready and only provide them if requested.

7. SAVE YOUR WORK!

There you have it! You can always use another template if you want something with more design. Remember to keep it simple and try to keep your resume to one page. It may also be a good idea to print your resume on resume paper which can be done at Kinkos or you can buy resume paper at a store such as Office Depot. Good Luck and Happy Job Hunting!
