You're a guy and over 50 and you start to look at your health and realize that you are not in the kind of shape that you could or should be in. You don't have the time to join a gym, plus you know you can't keep up with them young studs in the shape you are right now. So what do you do? Well you start by getting up and getting active. Start doing more of the everyday things that you need to do but just keep putting off. Here are some great calorie burners for men, who are beginners and over age 50. For men who don't understand , when you burn calories you also start to burn fat. Burn off that extra fat and you will see a healthy , better shaped you.

Volunteer:

Get out of your house and get involved in the community. Take part in your local Habitat For Humanity and help build a house for a family in need. You don't have to be in great shape or be knowledgeable in carpentry to help build a house for Habitat for Humanity. All you really need is a willingness to help others.

Another great way a man can volunteer is to become a volunteer assistant coach on a children's sports team. Even if you can't be an assistant couch you can still volunteer to help out during practices. By working with the children and helping them to improve on their sport, you can burn up a good amount of calories.

Play:

Get back to the basics of your childhood favorites. You are never to old to enjoy and good game of jump rope or hop scotch. If you have grandchildren then you can give your kids a break by taking your grandchildren for a day. Spend the day being active with your grandchildren. Take them to the zoo and spend the day walking around looking at the animals. Get up and play with them on park equipment. It really does not matter what you do with your grandchildren or how you play by yourself as long as you are being active and moving around.

Build things:

If you like working with your hands then now is the time to get out there and start building things. Woodworking is a great way to burn up calories. Take the time to build a table, dresser, a desk or even build a birdhouse. You will be amaze at the calories you can burn doing this. Wood not your thing? How about taking the time to restore an old car. Rebuilding an old car takes time but you will burn up a lot of calories doing it.

Help your wife:

Men over 50 pretty much still believe in the old fashioned roles of men and women. While this is fine and everything, sometimes you need to drop those views and get active with your wife. One thing you can do that will burn calories is help your wife in the kitchen. Take the time to chop up the food the old fashioned way with just a knife. If she needs something mixed up then mix it up for her by hand with just a spoon or whisk. How about jumping in and doing the dishes after dinner by hand? All of this is great for burning calories.
