Creative Christmas Crafts for Teenagers

Christmas time is the best time of the year to try your crafty hand skill on seeing what kinds of things you can create. Sometimes it is hard to get teenagers involved however I have picked out three different crafts that I think any teen would love to do. The reason why I say this is because I did these in school when I was a teenager and I had a great time when it came to creating these. I even gave them as gifts too!

Craft One
Pine-cone Ornaments
All you will need to do is have the kids search their yards for any fallen pine-cones. Right around mid-October will be the time they will start appearing in the yards. Have them dry out for at least a week. This way any dew, rain, or any bug that may be on them will be gone before use. I also suggest spraying a light midst of Lysol onto the pine-cones before drying them.

After the pine-cones are dried, get some silver spray paint. At Walmart they sell dollar can spray paint. This is the one you need. No need in spending an arm and a leg on spray paint. Pick out one that has a little glitter to it. If you don't it is OK. You can add glitter to the pine-cone by lightly sprinkling glitter confetti over the pine-cone as soon as spray paint it so it will stick.

Next cut an arm length of either red or green ribbon and link the ends together on top of the pine-cone with a hot-glue gun. Take a can of fake snow spray and spray the top of the pine-cone with it to cover the ends of the ribbon and the top of the pine-cone. It will end up looking like snow fell onto the pine-cone. You can also spray the fake snow paint onto the tips of the pine-cone leaves to give it a little more dramatical affect.

Craft Two
Stuffed Balloons
At your local hobby store find stuff-able balloons. This is a super great craft that can double into a present for a friend. Along with the stuff-able balloon, get some holiday candy, maybe a couple gift cards, or a festive holiday stuffed animal. First fill the balloon with red, green and white paper grass. Have two people hold open the hole to the balloon because these balloons are rather tough to pull on your own while you stuff them. Stuff the paper in the bottom, then add whatever you would like after that. If you want to put chocolates, that is fine, just make sure the balloon stays at room temperature and the chocolates will be eaten in a week. If you are adding a stuffed animal make sure this item is the last thing you put in the balloon.

To add the stuffed animal, thread a piece of string (arm length) through the top of the animals head and tie the ends together in a knot. Make sure the string is either white or light colored. Stuff the animal in, butt first and hold onto the string. Leave the string hang outside the balloon. You are doing this so the animal is hanging from the top of the balloon and standing tall. This will make your animal not topple over. Tie the balloon just like any other balloon with the string from the animal hanging out. Once tied cut off access string.

Get a piece of construction paper in either red, white or green and cut a one inch wide strip from the longest side of the paper. Glue the ends together and the paper strip is now a circle base that will make your balloon stand up. Use red, green, and white construction paper to either make snowflake cut outs, or circle cut outs, and glue them to the balloon. Glue a bow on top of the balloon if you plan on giving it away!

Computer Screen Borders
Every teen either uses a computer at home, or school or knows someone that does. This Christmas craft idea allows them to decorate their computer screen in a festive way.

Most all computer screens are magnetic, so at your local hobby store, or Walmart, buy a roll of one (or less) magnetic strip roll. Cut the pieces in 6 inch strips long. Take the measurement of the computer screen they are going to decorate and cut two inch wide construction paper strips with either white, red or green paper. Glue the construction paper strips corner to corner to create a box. Take the magnetic strips that you cut earlier and peel the paper off the backside of the glue and place on the back of the construction paper strips. This is now a box cover for your computer screen. To finish it off, either get some Christmas stamps and stamp items all over the construction paper strips. Just do not use red ink stamp on red paper or green on green and white on white. If you do not like stamps, have them use Christmas stencils and outline snowflakes all around the border. If the snowflake comes off the side, it is OK. It will give it a more unique look. To make the snowflake appear use a white colored pencil or crayon on the green or red paper.
