Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without creative Christmas traditions. Each family has their own tradition that is unique. But if you don't have any traditions of your own, then here are a few creative Christmas tradition ideas that you may be able to adopt for your very own. Listed below are five creative Christmas traditions.

5. Holiday Movies- Holiday movies are a great family Christmas tradition. After the meal has been eaten and the presents have been opened, watching a holiday movie will keep you in the spirit. It also is a great idea to play these movies on Christmas Eve. A lot of famlies get together on Christms Eve to sit down and eat a nice dinner while spending time with their loved ones. It's fun to pull movie choices out of a hat each year so everyone can see their favorite. There are so many fun Christmas movies to choose from you are sure to find something that everyone will enjoy.

4. Board games- Playing board games is another creative Christmas tradition. After a big meal it is nice to sit down with family and play some good old fashioned board games. Some of our favorites are Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Clue and Scattergories. It's a great way to pass time while enjoying the fun rivalry between your distant loved ones. The best part is that the winner gets to open the first gift!!

3. Christmas morning breakfast- What could be better than waking up to beautifully wrapped presents under the Christmas tree and waking up to the smells of a wonderful home cooked Christmas breakfast? A personal favorite in our family is Belgian waffles or stuffed pancakes with a side of maple bacon. Most families probably just jump out of bed and rip and tear at the presents beneath the tree, but a Christmas breakfast can be a nice addition to your Christmas morning.

2. Christmas ornament exchange- The key is to drawing names on Thanksgiving and then buy an ornament for the person's name you have drawn for Christmas. It is an inexpensive gift idea and also adds some sentimental value to each holiday. You can be as creative or personal as you want with your ornament gift.

1. White elephant gift exchange- This is a great creative Christmas tradition. Most families are so large and it can be very expensive to buy gifts for everyone on the list. This is a creative idea that will become a fun new Christmas tradition. Everyone brings a gift already wrapped and each person draws a number out of a hat. Your number determines which order you pick out a gift. The best part about this Christmas tradition is that you never know what you might end up with and you can steal someone else's gift if you like it better. But a gift can only be stolen once. Then the stolen gift stays with its new owner.

No matter what creative Christmas tradition you chose, it is sure to be a fun addition to your Christmas holiday. Every family tradition is unique as is each family. Practicing Christmas traditions can create lasting memories for your friends and family.
