A Night of Laughs: Improv
Comedy clubs can be expensive and often inappropriate for all ages. But often Improv (or impromptu comedy practice) can be cheaper and totally fun. If you have never seen a comedy troupe perform improve, it is definitely entertaining and will likely offer a ton for you and your date to talk about; funny or not. To find improve near you; try searching the word "improve" and the city closest to you. Or if you live near a local college, or high school, their website may be a great resource to local drama offerings that contain improv. They say laughter is good for the soul...so why not improve your date this weekend by giving it soul!
An Average Afternoon to New Heights: Ropes Course
Who says a date has to be at night? Plan something mid day that will get your minds and bodies working! These days, ropes courses of all skill levels are offered at many parks and recreation departments offer safe courses that are challenging and a blast. Great for spring and fall, this is an opportunity to do something out of the ordinary and work together.
Dinner with a Twist
A good date may cost nearly $100. For less than that, you can sign both you and your friend/spouse to make dinners for a week! Programs like "Time for Dinner" or "Meal Makers" are probably offered in your area under a similar name, but the concept is the same: you come, you cook, and you leave with delicious meals to eat for the week! Cooking with unique ingredients to make meals you have never made is learning together and takes teamwork. Many of these places offer great music and wine while you cook. In addition, most of these establishments will offer 2 containers for each dish so you can both take home a portion - a perfect split!
There is always the thought that you could deliver the dishes to your friends or family afterward for a fantastic, generous, feels-good end. (And a quick drop off is a great way to introduce your date to family and friends!)
Five Star Frosting
Sometimes the best dates are short ones! If you are with a new partner, or get started late, a fun thing to do is go to the best restaurant or hotel in town and just order desert! Deserts at really fancy restaurants are amazing and have great presentation. Hot tea, coffee or wine make a great end to a sweet treat - and if all goes well, you can talk the night away in high-style and toast to life.
These easy ideas require a little online investigation and perfect timing, but they cost no more and will give you both something to talk about and have you feeling alive! Now, that's a date that invites passion - for life!
