Here is where you start the creative process. You can decorate the ribbon however you choose to. I like to use hot glue and put rickrack, or smaller ribbon strips along the 2 inch ribbon to decorate. Sometimes i hand sew bells or snowflakes on for a festive sounding decoration. Anything you can think of can be used. One year we bought mini candy canes and use a small stitch with thread to sew them onto the ribbons. It just goes to show that anything you find can be hot glued or stitched on. You don't need to know how to sew in order to put a tack in with a needle. If you are really afraid, you can try a staple gun in some cases but it wont work for something hard like a bell, a candy cane, or buttons.
Next part is another very creative part. You will need plain old clothespins. I prefer to use old wooden ones. They cost around 2 dollars at a store. Sometimes a bit more if you plan on buying alot, but for most cases, 20 is probably enough. Unless you have a huge family and lots of friends, then buy however many you need. You can decorate these any way you want. Some people enjoy making reindeer or Santas out of clips. You can paint them solid, you can paint patterns or hot glue things onto them. I like to use buttons, pom poms, bells, ribbons and glitter glue pens. I find the glitter glue pens at a craft store. Regular markers work great as well.
When you have finished decorating Simply pin your Christmas cards to the ribbon using the clothes pins. This is a great family project. Children can help pick out every bit of the project as well as decorate the clothes pins. Of course supervision should be used when using scissors and hot glue for young children, but this is a fantastic project for everyone in the family. You can make as many as you need or want and it can even make a great early Christmas gift!
For this craft, you can probably find alot of materials laying around your house, but here is a list of materials that i like to use.
