Things You Can Do If Your Son is Bored During Summer Vacation

When I was a kid my mom was a stay at home mom which meant during the summer time we sat at home bored alot accept for that one week each summer when our parents took us to the cottage. I remember the boredom and never having anything fun to do.

Back in my day there was Atari and Intellivision but it still did not make up for the two months we had off doing nothing.

Now that I am a parent i cringe at the thought of my son being bored throughout the summer. So I started to make a list of different activities and things we could do to make it less of a boring time for him.

Crafts are good as long as they do not take a long time to and are not overly messy. If they are messy crafts save them for outside where you can hose everyone down afterwards.

Fishing is always fun for most kids, there are some kids out there that don't like fishing but for the most part a lot do.

Paddle boating is fun or any lake activity is always a fun thing to do.

Making cookies or rice krispy squares is a great idea involve your kids in helping to make them.

Cleaning and redecorating your child's room is a good idea. Involve them as much as possible in the decor and they will like their room more.

Pitch a tent in the back yard, or their room kids especially boys love tents in their rooms.

Visit relatives that have small children. Kids love to play with each other.

Spend an hour or two each day with your child teaching them something. Spelling, arithmetic, geography, music, history, art. Kids crave knowledge.

Take them to the local park and let them play, better yet play with them.

Take them to watch a sporting even, baseball, soccer etc. Put them in a sport excerise is a must for young boys.

Take a trip to the super market and have them pick out a meat or vegatable or fruit they would like to try and then you both can come up with a meal plan or recipe for the rest of the family to try.
