Creative Ideas for Filling Clear Vases

Traditionally, when trying to fill a vase without using real flowers, most people usually turn to filling their vases with fake ones. Instead, nix the fake flowers altogether and find unique items to place inside your clear vases. Or opt for a combination of both, such as with the colored liquid idea.

Jelly Beans

Colored jelly beans look as good as they taste. A fun and creative idea for filling your vase is to stack rows of different colored jelly beans inside. Create a rainbow of jelly beans or stick to one color. Toss them in randomly for a colorful explosion or systematically line your vase to create distinct rows of varying color. Beads

Beads pretty much work the same way as the jelly beans, except you can't eat some while working on your vase. If you've got an excess of beads lying around, use them in your vase.

Packing Peanuts

Another relatively cheap idea is to make use of those Styrofoam packing peanuts. Spray paint the peanuts, using water based paint, such as acrylic paint (oil based paint may melt the Styrofoam). Then fill your vase.

Rocks

An equally cheap idea is to collect hundreds of tiny rocks to paint and fill your vase. Or find a handful of large, smooth rocks to fill a wide mouthed vase. Combine with fake flowers or a large, scented candle.

Colored Liquid

Another idea for a creative vase is to mix about a cup of warm water with food coloring and put inside your vase. Add a fake flower to top it off.

Fall Leaves

When the leaves start to turn those vivid fall colors, bring them inside to place in your vase. Place a pumpkin scented candle in the middle.

Fruit

Fill a vase with water or vinegar and then place limes, tangerines or cranberries inside. Or mix fake fruit with cotton balls or saran wrap which can give the appearance of ice or snow.
