Creative Items to Make Out of PVC Pipe

Kristine Brite
PVC pipe, or polyvinyl chloride pipe, is a water pipe that's versatility goes beyond carrying water. It's a cheap material that's lightweight, but strong and durable. Because it is so cheap and readily available, people often use PVC pipe for alternate uses like constructing games, making furniture and other uses.

Sports equipment is pricey. You duplicate many items using PVC pipe. For example, make a goal for street hockey or soccer from the piping. You can also make a stand for a basketball goal. If you have an old basketball goal with no hoop, you can also make the hoop out of PVC pipe.

The pipes stand as a support for many types of furniture. You can build the pipes up and lay wood planks in between to make a bookshelf. A workbench constructed from PVC pipes is sturdy with the pipe secured to the wall with a piece of wood paid over top.

Tents can be pricey, a cheap alternative is to make the tent's body from PVC body. You can fit a tarp to the tent for a covering. Three pieces of PVC pipe--two for the legs and one long bar--make an effective drying rack poolside for towels and bathing suits. This keeps the soggy clothing off the ground and out of your home until it's dry.
