Creative Job Ideas for Stay at Home or Telecommuting Moms
Things I Never Thought I Would Have to Do, I Actually Enjoy!
As we writers know, markets and pay can vary, so I really can't rely on writing articles for a few dollars here and there. I actually make more money when I do a 20 minute survey that pays $5, than I do writing an article that takes me 45 minutes to type and upload (I have dial-up). So I have actaully looked into other WAH jobs, and have found, that with dial-up, opportunities are pretty bleak. As I said, I am saving money for tuition, so even the $25 a month I can save on internet charges will really help (like that could go towards my textbooks).
Something I never thought I would do would be to go into the telephone business. Now there is adult and non-adult, psychic, translators, and other types of services. I read tarot cards, but would feel a little guilty taking people's money for "predicting their future" or advising them on "financial problems". Hang Up! I would say, and of course, never make any money myself. I took 3 years of Latin in school, but unless the Vatican is calling, there really isn't any need for Latin translation via telephone. So that only leaves one other thing: flirty chat. For those that may not know, flirty chat is not phone sex. Basically, it is regulated, and certain inappropiate words can't be used. Although guys try it, acronyms have to be used. For some people, it may not make it seem any better, but for me, the less I think about what I am doing, the easier I can work, thus staying on longer hours for school.
While there are some companies that do flirty chat (think of the 1-900 numbers on late night tv), I like many other women, work on Keen. The pay is pretty decent, although the difference is that with dispatch companies the call come to you, and with Keen you have to bid and spend money on advertising for customers. I also started a blog, with better helps customers understand my services I provide.
So for anyone who is interested in some extra cash to pay for school, vhildcare, or other bills, I say to expand you mind and be creative. Think of what you have to work with now (telephone and computer equipment, education, schedule, need for X amount of money per month) and go from there. While you may not want a PG- rated job, you may want something that is G-rated, (likewise for the very adventerous higher than PG rated!). Anyways, good luck in your endeavors, and happy money making to you!
PS- The additional links that I have are "G" and "PG" related. No inappropiate language is used. If interested in how to get started, you can go to Keen and search my user name Open Ears Heart and Mind in order to get some ideas. I have both regular and "spicy" listings, also known as "just friends" and "flirting".
