A Note of Personal Quest

April Higney
When I first stepped into Associated Content I had no idea which direction it would take me, as being a devoted poetry writer, admittedly it is a very difficult task promoting this kind of work, but in any case I was led into the world of Twitter, and from there blogging, which I'm very active in at WordPress ( betweenhearts75 ) but it wasn't so pleasant when it all began, Twitter had tons of auto-bots and I had started out just with Blogger and very minimal activity. I got so tired with trying to promote the poetry for page views from here, and started to feel like I was sending out SPAM like an Auto-bot, so what did I do? Took a deep breath and relaxed more in it, and then guess what.... Twitter started to clear a lot of the Auto stuff, and with a lot more real people connections, smiles emerged. The talent amazes me, and I'm encountering more & more everyday. One of the most influential, encouraging, and inspiring, has been a blog (which now has their own site) OneStopPoetry that allows for others involved in the arts and creative writing to connect with each other and share their work. They spotlight some amazing writers, photographers, and artists. On Wednesdays is a day designated to get many together (we sometimes chuckle over "Mr. Linky" but he serves his purpose) and we provide our name and a link to our own blog or website with some of our writing/art/creative work, and read others' who have posted. Its hard to resist reading because it is filled with so many amazing poems etc. and one can easily get lost there. I have a lovely friend to thank for that : Leslie Moon an amazing talented lady which I adore.
Okay so what else have I been doing? Obviously writing a lot, however sadly a lot less here. Always though a place in my heart for the many I've found here too, which is another thing I needed to express as well. I've not forgotten any of you, though at times my life can be a bit in an emotional fog. I've also stepped into the territory of writing a novel, which I just pushed forward at the beginning of this year (with a sense of urgency to get it out of my hands and reluctance because I did not have the means to have it "professionally" edited.) I wanted also to start off the year doing something for myself, which I can tend to forget at times. The book is Adult Fiction and a Psychological Thriller/Romance entitled: Slipping Back and Forth Between Parallels (if you click on the title you can read the first chapter featured from BookBuzzr - fReado ) and it's available in Kindle format (first time doing, so a bit of a rough formatting on that) and of course Paperback on Amazon.com. One of the services I used for the purpose of publishing is CreateSpace and I could not be happier with the services for online publication that they provide. They are fast when it comes to shipping proofs for review etc. and I used basic shipping. They have great templates for structure and cover design. ( I used my own imagery which I enjoy in that part of the work ) and another thing that is great about them is that they are set up side by side with Amazon (with a choice to distribute with the partnership) and choices for other distribution options (libraries and bookstores for an added fee.)

Yes very busy indeed, not to mention working on a poetic novel, (which I had to start over because of a lightning situation and the other is stuck on an old hard drive) a poetry anthology in the works, and also a follow through second novel based alongside the first. Then there is parenting, real life, and real issues, so an exhausting, rewarding, and emotional path. At times it isn't easy at all, and I feel like just hanging it up, but to me, that is NOT an option. When will I stop? Perhaps when my heart stops beating, however I'd like to think it doesn't even stop there....carried on by others.

Appreciate always your encouraging words David, as I've enjoyed greatly in your poetry and haiku and amazing creative writing. With the obstacles set before me, I keep going, and I certainly hope it IS the right direction, and feel that it truly is. My heart is in this work, for me its far more than just words, and the people I've met and meet along the way are so important. Exactly, not about where the path ends by any means.....Thank you David! ~April
