Creative, Romantic Ways to Propose

Sally Albright
Whenever you watch romantic movies you get the typical "on one knee" proposal. While this proposal is romantic and sweet, it is a very common method for proposing. If you are looking for a more unique way to propose to your sweetheart, I have a few ideas to share with you.

"Romantic Movie Switcheroo"

You can pull the old switcheroo on your sweetheart. Instead of placing the romantic movie DVD into the player, place your proposal DVD in there instead. Many video cameras come with the capability of transferring footage onto your computer. You can also use many digital "point and shoot" cameras to videotape your proposal. Before placing the romantic movie substitute into your DVD player make sure the T.V. is turned off first. Because your movie will start right away, unless you create a menu, you should hit the pause button on the DVD remote or you could tape a minute long title to avoid missing any of the good parts of your proposal.

"Congratulations on your Engagement"

There are many occasions in which people give their sweethearts a card. If you plan your proposal around a holiday or their birthday then this idea would work well. Instead of handing your future fiancé a card specific to the holiday you can hand them one that says "Congratulations on your Engagement". They may wonder why you have given them the card at first, but they will figure out that it is a form of a proposal. You can include some sweet sentiments inside of the card to help clue them in.

"You are Worth a Fortune"

When dining at a Chinese restaurant you may expect a fortune cookie to be placed on your table at the end of your meal. Why not use the idea of a fortune cookie to propose to your sweetheart on Valentine's Day? You can excuse yourself to go to the bathroom and give the special fortune cookie to your waiter/waitress asking them to present it to your future fiancé after dinner. To find a "Will you marry me?" fortune cookie online you can visit this web site. Though the fortune cookies is pricey for a single cookie just think of it as a wise investment for your future.

"Honeymoon"

If you and your sweetheart have talked about taking a vacation together you can use this as an opportunity to make the perfect proposal. Instead of buying tickets and presenting them to your sweetheart give them a few travel brochures instead. Tell them you want their input on where to go for your vacation. Once your sweetheart picks out her/his perfect destination you can say, "That would be a great place for a honeymoon, wouldn't it?" They may look confused at first but are sure to be delighted once they figure out what you just said.

"Take a Shopping Trip"

Taking your sweetheart on a shopping trip can be a fun way to propose. Most malls have a jewelry store or two tucked into one of the corridors. You can walk the mall with your future fiancé and ask them to take a look in the jewelry store with you. If you need an excuse you can always say you are looking to buy a necklace for your Mother. Casually make your way to the section of engagement rings and ask your sweetheart what she thinks about the selection. After she has replied you can respond with, "Well, what do you think about this one?" and pull out the engagement ring you have already purchased. You may want to have your receipt with you just in case.

Proposing to your sweetheart in a unique way can make the proposal memorable for the both of you. Using one of the ideas above you are sure to have a proposal you and your sweetheart won't soon forget.

These are fantastic. I wish my husband had a touch of romance but, alas, you can't have everything.
