Chocolate Marshmallow Pilgrim Hats
Pilgrim hats are a classic symbol of Thanksgiving, and you can make edible hats that would make any Pilgrim proud. These creative little hats are made of marshmallows covered with melted chocolate and round chocolate cookies of your choice. Consider making a batch of these creative and tasty sweet treats for your Thanksgiving Day feast.
You'll need one dozen round chocolate cookies, one dozen large marshmallows, a 12-ounce package of milk chocolate chips, a tube of yellow or gold decorator's icing, and a couple of toothpicks.
Begin by melting the chocolate chips in the microwave, and stir them occasionally until the chocolate is sufficiently melted and smooth. While the chips are melting, place the chocolate cookies on a baking sheet lined with waxed paper.
Once the chips are melted, dip a marshmallow into the chocolate using a toothpick, position it on the center of a cookie, and remove it with a second toothpick. Continue this process until you've used all of the cookies, marshmallows, and chocolate, and place the pan in the refrigerator.
After the chocolate has hardened, create tiny belt buckles on the hats with yellow or gold decorator's icing. The buckles will add just the right finishing touch to these chocolate-covered Thanksgiving treats.
Double-stuffed Turkeys
These sweet and tasty Thanksgiving treats are as fun to make, as they are to eat, and you don't have to be artistically inclined to make them. All you need are a few sweet ingredients and the time it takes to assemble them into double-stuffed turkeys.
To make these creative Thanksgiving treats you'll need a bag of candy corn, a package of double-stuffed sandwich cookies of your choice, chocolate-covered malted milk balls, and a small tube of blue decorator's icing.
Begin by opening a double-stuffed sandwich cookie. Place the side with the filling on a flat surface. Stick a whole double-stuffed sandwich cookie on its side at the edge of the filling of the open cookie. This will form the back of the turkey.
Carefully place four or five whole pieces of candy corn, point side down, into the top of the sandwich cookie that represents the back of the turkey. The candy corn will look like colorful feathers.
To make the head, press a malted milk ball into the cookie filling in front of the whole cookie. Create a beak by breaking off a piece of candy corn, and stick the candy corn beak to the malted milk ball with a dab of decorator's icing. Finish by making two little eyes.
Candy Corncobs
These are very cute and creative Thanksgiving treats that look like miniature cobs of corn. Not only are they good to eat, but they're ornamental as well.
To make candy corncobs you'll need clear plastic gloves, twist ties, scissors, tan raffia, tan crepe paper, and candy corn. Consider buying various colors and varieties of candy corn in addition to the traditional color.
Begin by cutting the fingers from clear plastic gloves. Fill the fingers about ¾ of the way full of candy corn, and secure the tops with a twist tie. They don't have to be the same length.
Create cornhusks from tan crepe paper. Simply cut out several pieces of crepe paper of appropriate size, and wrap them around the tied ends of the candy filled pouches. Tie the crepe paper husks around the twist-tied ends of the candy corncobs with pieces of tan raffia.
Place a candy corncob next to each place setting, or fill a basket with these colorful, creative cobs of corn for a delicious and decorative centerpiece. These Thanksgiving treats look almost too good to eat!

Post a CommentYou are very creative in thinking on how to decorate these treats.
i made the turkeys out of cookies and candy corns...adorable idea, but the decorating frosting is not enough to get it all to stick together well. i am attempting to chill the frosting now, but be ready for them to collapse, ALOT!!!
Thank you. Unfortunately I couldn't add pictures since I didn't make the treats at the time the article was written, but I will keep that in mind in the future.
A picture of the finished product would have been helpful since I am a very visual person. Thanks for the idea!
Maybe I couldn't find them, but pictures would be nice. These are very good ideas. Your site is very well done.
