Gobble Gobble what is that Oh no is that Mr. Turkey once again? Are you tired of having the same old Turkey for Thanksgiving year after year? Yes, Mr. Good old Tom is quite tasty, but sometimes it's nice to have turkey alternatives like chicken, pork, pasta or ham. Are you in the need for some good turkey alternatives that will leave you and your guests asking for more? Well here are a few yummy in the tummy turkey alternatives you might enjoy.

Italian turkey cutlets- This is a great alternative to good old Tom. Pair this up with some creamy mashed potatoes, sausage stuffing, and cranberry sauce your good to go.

Items needed for the Italian turkey cutlets:

1 whole package of mozzarella cheese

6-8 Pieces of turkey cutlets

Italian breadcrumbs approximately 1 to 1 ¼ cups

A few sprinkles of Garlic powder

1 Large White onion chopped up fine

Pepper to taste

Homemade sauce or you can use a jar sauce and add your own spices to it

First pre-heat your oil in a large frying pan. While the oil is heating up start preparing your turkey cutlets like you would chicken cutlets. After the oil is pre-heated add your onions and cook until they are lightly browned. Place your turkey cutlets in the oil and cook for about 10 minutes until brown on both sides. Place the turkey cutlets onto a paper towel to drain off excess oil then place onto a baking sheet. Put the onions to the side in a bowl. Now place a few thick slices of mozzarella cheese on top, add garlic, pepper, and sauce on top. Cook on 350 for 20 minutes until all the cheese is melted. Take out of oven place onions on top, sauce, and sprinkle some parmesan cheese all over.

Roasted chicken stuffed with potato and stuffing- This is very tasty, juicy, and different to serve for Thanksgiving. Why make a plain old roasting chicken when you can be creative.

Items needed for Roasted chicken stuffed with potato and stuffing:

3-5 Cups of prepared mashed potatoes (Garlic flavored is great with the chicken)

2-3 Teaspoons of chicken fat

2 Large white onions chopped fine

4-6 Teaspoons of salt

1 ¼ Teaspoons of pepper

6-10 Pound roasting chicken

1 Box of Stove Top stuffing (prepared)

First melt your chicken fat in a skillet. Once the fat is melted add your onions. Cook your onions until they are lightly brown. Clean your chicken inside and out place salt all over the top and the inside. Place some butter on top of chicken and a little bit of pepper to taste. Put the chicken fat and onions to the side. Place 1 cup of water into roasting pan. Start cooking your roasting chicken on 350 for 1 ½ hours. Then take out of oven place onions, chicken fat, potatoes and stuffing inside. Cook this for another 1 ½ hours covered until the legs are tender. Try to baste the roasting chicken a few times so it stays moist.

Scrumptious Cherry glazed ham- The Cherry adds a really nice touch to your ham instead of the normal Pineapple. This is one of my favorite ham dishes easy and tasty.

Items needed for Scrumptious Cherry glazed ham:

1 Pre-cooked ham sliced

2/3 Cups of honey

¼ Teaspoon of ground allspice

1/2 Cup of Brown sugar

Around 1/3 Tea ground cloves

First part- Mix all these ingredients into a bowl. Make sure to stir this up very well. Then take a spoon and place this mixture all over the ham. Cook the ham for about 20 minutes on 350. Take out of the oven.

Then mix 1 can of Cherry pie filling, 1 tablespoon of lemon juice, around a ¼ teaspoon of allspice and ¼ teaspoon of ground cloves in a small bowl. Now spoon this mixture all over the ham making sure you saturate it completely. Place the ham back into the oven at 350 for 15 minutes. You now have a very tasty and enjoyable Thanksgiving ham.

I am going to try the Italian Turkey Cutlets. I am sick of turkey. Turkey for Thanksgiving. Turkey for Christmas. Now, since I am older, I find that a lot of the foods I used to eat, I can no longer eat. Boomer! But, that't life and if I want to continue to live it, I have to learn to change some of my eating habits. Your recipes sound really good and I am going to try them. I have a 13-year-old in the house and she is always complaining that I need to try something different. Why not start now? Thank you so much for sharing.

Nice alternatives, especially good for families of different sizes who might not want a whole roast turkey.

Nice, but my family wouldn't let me get away with anything less than the old tom turkey!

Sounds delicious! The traditional turkey is too overdone.
