Creative Uses for Cookie Dough

Get Creative with Your Cookies

Amy Brantley
Don't get me wrong, cookie dough is great on its own or even in ice cream, but there are so many other ways you can use cookie dough. You can turn it into a pizza crust or you could even make ice cream bowls. The possibilities are endless. You just have to be creative. Here are a few ideas to get you started.

Creative Uses for Cookie Dough #1: Pizza Crust

Cookie dough makes a wonderful pizza crust. All you have to do is spread a roll of your favorite cookie dough onto a pizza pan and bake until golden brown. For a fruit pizza you could use sugar cookie dough. A fruit pizza tastes amazing when you use cream cheese frosting and top it with kiwis and strawberries. Another great combination is to use chocolate chip cookie dough and top it with marshmallow cream, mini chocolate chips, and caramel sauce.

Creative Uses for Cookie Dough #2: Ice Cream Bowls

Cookies and ice cream are a wonderful combination. Instead of sprinkling your ice cream with cookie crumbs, why not make an ice cream bowl out of cookie dough? To do this, all you need is your favorite flavor of cookie dough, non-stick cooking spray, and two jumbo muffin pans. Spray the inside of the muffin cups with the non-stick spray and press the cookie dough into the cups and up the sides. Then spray the second muffin pan, but this time spray the outside of the cups. Press into the first pan. This will help prevent your cookies from falling. Cook until golden brown, remove the first pan, and then allow to cool for 10 minutes. Flip the pan over slowly and remove the bowls. Allow the bowls to cool thoroughly before filling with ice cream.

Creative Uses for Cookie Dough #3: S'mores Bars

S'mores bars are one of my favorite treats. To make S'mores bars you will need a family-sized package of chocolate chip cookie dough, a bag of milk chocolate chips, and a bag of miniature marshmallows. Spread the cookie dough into a 9 x 13 inch pan bake until right before done. About 5 minutes before they are done, pour on the bag of milk chocolate chips and spread around the top of the cookies. Place back in the oven for about 2 minutes. Next pour on the marshmallows and bake until the marshmallows are slightly brown. Remove from the oven and allow to cool. Once cool, cut into bars and enjoy.
