Creative Uses for Flowerpots

The Many Uses for Flowerpots!

Dina Montgomery
Anybody who loves working in the garden or just loves plants in general, will most likely have plenty of flowerpots on hand. Flowerpots are great for gardening, and for displaying plants pretty much anywhere you want. But did you know there are also a lot of creative uses for flowerpots other than for holding and displaying plants? Use them to help out in the kitchen, a place to store firewood, even to keep fire ants under control. Here are some of the creative uses for flowerpots.

Creative uses for flowerpots: Bread container for baking

You can use a new, clean flowerpot to bake a fresh loaf of bread. Just simply take a new medium-sized clay flowerpot and soak it in warm water for about twenty to thirty minutes. Dry the flowerpot off and lightly spread butter on the inside.

Prepare the bread dough like normal and place it in the flowerpot and bake. The clay flowerpot will bake the bread to perfection, making the outside crusty while the inside is still moist and delicious.

Creative uses for flowerpots: Store firewood with style

Who says that you have to have a brass or metal firewood rack for storing your wood, you can easily store the firewood next to the fireplace and also add a little style. Place an extra large clay or ceramic flowerpot next to your fireplace, it will look great and will hold all the wood and kindling that you will need next time you want to use your fireplace.

Creative uses for flowerpots: Kill menacing fire ants

This is a safe and simple solution to kill fire ants in your yard. Just take a flowerpot and place it upside down on the fire ant hill. Take some boiling water and pour it in the drain hole of the flowerpot. The flowerpot will keep the ants from escaping and soon they won't be a problem anymore.

Creative uses for flowerpots: Yarn holder

A flowerpot is a perfect solution to hold your yarn while knitting. Simply place your yarn under an upside down flowerpot and thread the yarn through the drain hole. This will prevent your yarn from getting tangled and slowing your progress for the sweater that you are knitting.

Creative uses for flowerpots: A place for your fish

This is an easy and cheap way to furnish your fish aquarium. Take a mini flowerpot and place it in a corner of your fish aquarium, on its side. Since fish love to hide away to feel safe, this creates a little cave for them to swim in and out of.

Flowerpots are great for your garden and home, and these are just a few of the uses for them. Try some of them today and soon you will be making sure you always have some on hand.
