Creative Uses for Glass Bottles

A little wine never hurt anyone. Too much wine, however, leaves you with an overflowing recycling bin. Wondering how you can get even more out of your beer and wine bottles? Check out these creative uses for glass bottles.

Use as a Vase

Do you ever buy a bottle of wine simply for the cute labeling, but the wine turns out to be less than palatable? By reusing that trendy bottle, you can make up for having to endure the bitter taste. One of the easiest ways to reuse your glass bottle is by turning it into an instant vase for your real or faux flowers. If faux flowers aren't your thing, consider using wooden flowers.

Use as a Candle Holder

Another easy and creative way to reuse your glass bottles is by converting them into candle holders. Be sure to put a glass coaster or saucer underneath to catch the overflowing wax. Use as a fun centerpiece. When the candle is finished, place the bottle in a bowl of hot water to melt any wax left inside. You can then reuse both the wax and bottle.

Use as a Plant Waterer

Forget those aqua globes. If you've got house plants, save yourself $10 by using your wine bottle as a creative plant waterer. You'll need to affix a stopper to the end of the bottle or purchase a plant nanny to place the bottle into. Click HERE to see how someone else pulled it off.

Use as a Picture Album

Turn your wine bottle into a creative photo album to be placed on your table as a centerpiece, fireplace or window sill. Remove the label (or keep if particularly cute), then tape photos around the bottle. Photos printed from your computer may wrap better than traditional photos. Another idea is to cut off the bottom of the bottle, using a glass cutter and insert the pictures. Be sure to sand down the edges. You can then hang the bottle in a corner or near a window.

Use as a Soap Dispenser

Reuse a favorite brand of beer bottle as a soap dispenser for your kitchen or bathroom. Use spouts from your current soap dispenser or purchase extras at Wal-Mart or Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Use as a Glass

If you are a regular beer or wine drinker, reuse your bottles by cutting off the tops and using as everyday glasses. To ensure you don't leave any jagged edges, click HERE to review a helpful tutorial on how to cut glass.

I've forgotten the winemaker, but I always like the wine battles that came in a kinda reed basket... It made you look hipster even if the wine wasn't so great..

Wine bottles can make some really cool crafts - like sand art (for the very patient) and also for little kids to put a message inside for their mommy for Mother's Day.

You know those things they attach to liquor bottles to ensure a delicate pour? Stopper was the wrong word.
