Personal Items
Nothing says love than a present that shows you pay attention. Make sure to really pay attention to what your significant other sees on TV or in the stores. It may be a book they find interesting, or the next best seller form their favorite author. If they are a collector, buying a Valentine's present that fits into their collection is a great way to go. For the sports fan, a pair of hard-to-find tickets to their favorite team's game may be enough to bring on tears of happiness. A team jersey or other sports clothing item is also a great idea. For women, gift certificates for a spa, hair salon or nail salon may be a wonderful gift.
Time
One of the best Valentine's Day presents is the gift of time. Plan a romantic dinner for just the two of you, either at his or her favorite restaurant or one you make yourself. Buy gift certificates for a couple's spa treatment. Plan a weekend getaway for both of you. If you have kids, a night out on the town alone can make a wonderful Valentine's present. Going out for dinner, dancing, or even a play at the local theater not only makes a great gift, but can also put some needed spice back in the romance department. Spend time just reconnecting and getting to know one other, and you'll create a Valentine's Day to remember.
Decorate the Bedroom
If Valentine's Day means spicing up the bedroom activities, there is more to it than just buying lingerie. In preparation, clean the bedroom and store all the clutter. Spring for romantic red or pink sheets, and a cozy new comforter. Buy heart pillows to throw all over the bed. Place fresh flowers all over the room. Pink and red candles, in various sizes and shapes, can be lit on every available surface. Burn candles with fresh, soft scents to enhance the atmosphere. Sprinkle rose petals all over the bed, and on the floor. For women who like lingerie, pick out something you know she will adore, wrap it up, and leave it on the bed.
