.YouTube. Make him his very own parody video of his favorite movie, and work the question into it. It'll be fun to make and fun to watch.
.Geocaching. If you have access to a GPS, Geocaching is a treasure hunt with coordinates! Give him coordinates to something similar to the treasure hunt idea. This is especially great if you know of a nice place out in the woods or on a hiking trail. Great idea for the outdoorsy type of guy.
.Message in the Sand. If you live on the coast of the ocean or even a lake, take him out on a nice afternoon, and write a message in the sand. If you can get it written before you get there, even better! Make plans to go kayaking or something on the water.
.Paper airplane. Write the question on paper, fold it into a plane (or other origami), and fly it over to him somewhere where you won't get in trouble. Class isn't the best place for this one, but maybe some kind of date or after school activity. You might be able to put it in his locker, too.
.Remote control. Whether it's a car, boat, or plane, this is a cute idea that's sure to catch his attention. Attach a written invitation, and drive up to him with it.
.Video game. Does he play a MMORPG? Like World of Warcraft? If so, get his friends to all send him messages that hint at it. If you play too, then after they do that, find him in the game world and ask him!
.Song. If you're one of those musically inclined types, write him a song asking him, and sing it to him. It's a sweet idea, and shows that you put a lot of effort into it.
.Fortune cookie. If you like to cook, making fortune cookies is really, really easy! Make some for all your friends, and make sure he ends up with the "You will go to the prom with ___" one.
.From Katy at thriftyfun.com, take a white t-shirt, write your name in permanent marker and then a bunch of other girl's names in washable marker. Leave your question, and instructions to wash the shirt and find out who's asking. Cute!
.Puzzle. Get one of those small kid's puzzles from a dollar store. Make it, and flip it over, then write the question on the back. Give it to him, and tell him there's a question on it if he'll make it.
Good luck, and have a safe and happy prom!
