Strings of lights are commonly used to decorate homes around winter holidays, but with the rainbow of colors available these days, they can be used for much more than adorning windows and pine trees. Strings of glowing white, amber, blue and many other vibrant colors can be used to decorate a foyer. The lighting is as practical as it is eye-catching. It provides illumination during nighttime hours, and when using LED strings they are safer and more efficient than ever. Find out how I used strings of lights to decorate and illuminate my foyer, and keep yours burning all year long.
Decorate a Large Faux Plant with Strings of Lights
A high-quality faux plant is a great choice when looking for new ways to decorate a foyer, but it is hardly eye-catching or unique. Add strings of lights as the picture shows, and an otherwise lifeless plant can look extraordinary. I added strings of white lights to a faux ficus tree to decorate my foyer. I keep the lights on during late afternoon, evening and early morning hours. In addition to beautifying the entryway, nightlights are no longer necessary in my home.
Embellish a Plain Foyer Mirror
My mom also chose to decorate her foyer with lights, but she did not use a faux tree. Her entryway includes a beautiful framed mirror. To light up the space and enhance foyer, she hung strings of amber lights around the mirror. Since the frame of the mirror is wide, no other attachments were required. The amber bulbs gently grace the mirror, and they look absolutely gorgeous in her foyer, especially at night when no other lights are on.
Decorate a Nearby Banister with Beautiful Lights
I have always loved unique lamps, light fixtures and other sources of artificial light. I used strings of lights to decorate the foyer in two of my homes that had entryway staircases. Red and green lights wrapped around pine garland and cinnamon pinecones were lovely during the winter holidays. The rest of the time I used strings of beautiful light-blue and white lights to decorate the balusters and rail.
