Creative Ways to Fund an Adoption

Antoinette McGowan
For couples who are plagued by infertility, trying to have a child can become frustrating. No doubt you have been down this road. More than likely you and your spouse have gotten pretty creative trying to conceive a child. Nothing has worked so now you have decided to go the route of adoption to become parents. Adoption is expensive though and the price of an adoption has gotten you to the point where you are feeling like you will never get the chance to be parents.

Remember how creative the two of you had become when trying to conceive a child? Well to fund your adoption you will need to get just as creative. Now most people would say for you to go to the bank and borrow the money. If that was an option you would already be in the process of an adoption. With getting a loan out of the question it is time to get creative. These options are for the couples who could truly give a child a loving home but lack the resources to get a loan to fund the adoption.

Saving Account:

This is not a quick way to fund an adoption but it will serve as a start. Open a savings account that has a decent interest rate. This way you can add the interest your account has earned toward the money you are saving up for the adoption. Remember this is just a start. You will be adding the money that you earn from the more creative options into this account also until you reach your goals. Don't forget that the money is earning interest while it is sitting there.

Flea Markets:

Purchase some low cost wholesale items and sell them at retail price at flea markets. This is one way to see extra money that you can put toward your adoption. Make sure to purchase merchandise that you know will go over well in your area.

Yard Sales:

This option is a little easier since you don't have to spend any money to be able to do. If you don't have a lot of stuff that you can sell in a yard sale, make sure to employ friends and family. Tell your friends and family what your intentions are and ask them if they have any stuff they would like to donate to your yard sale. Make sure they know that all money raised from the yard sale will be going to fund your adoption. You will be surprised how many people are willing to help in this way.

Recycle:

This option can actually increase your funds rather quickly. Save all your soda cans so that you can cash them in at a recycling center for cash. Recycling centers will pay for aluminum cans, copper wires, metal, junk vehicles and various other things. To raise money quickly put up fliers offering to haul off peoples junk vehicles for them, old refrigerators, aluminum cans. A lot of people will let you haul this stuff off for free just to get rid of it. The possibilities are endless with this as long as you don't mind getting dirty at times.

Internet Panhandling:

Internet panhandling is legal and quite popular. I have seen internet panhandling sites asking for donations for a wide array of things. One site was set up for a woman asking for donations to help with her divorce, one was done to fund a custody case and I even seen one where a couple was asking for donations to fund the wife's breast implants. So there is no reason why you can not set one up to seek donations for your adoption. Just make sure you have a PayPal account to receive the donations in. Get creative with it and you will be amaze as to how many people will make donations to your cause.

You don't have to limit yourself to just one option for funding your adoption. Use the ones that will fit with what you can personally do and go from there. Get creative when trying to fund your adoption. In time you will find that you have enough saved up now to proceed with the adoption process. Just what every you do, do not give up hope. You have put a long and enormous effort into conceiving a child. Now it is time to put in just as much effort into funding your adoption.
