Pie Pan Anyone?

Dina Montgomery
Those aluminum pie pans that are left over after you have baked a pie or when you made homemade chicken pot pie, can come in really handy. These are some of the creative ways to reuse aluminum pie pans in the kitchen. Next time you bake a pie, you will think twice about throwing them out.

Creative ways to reuse aluminum pie pans in the kitchen: An instant colander

You're cooking spaghetti for dinner when you suddenly realize that your colander has a big hole in it and it isn't useable. You can fix this minor problem by using an aluminum pie pan. Just poke some holes on the bottom of the aluminum pie pan and then bend the pan so it is in a shape of a bowl. Now you can place the pie pan over the pot of spaghetti and drain out the water. Your spaghetti dinner is saved.

Creative ways to reuse aluminum pie pans in the kitchen: Control splatters from your frying pan

When frying food, sometimes the oil splatters can get out of control and go flying out of a hot pan in all sorts of directions. Not only is this dangerous, it's also really annoying. A safer way to fry food is to use an aluminum pie pan as a lid.

Just poke some holes on the bottom of the aluminum pie pan and place it upside down over the pan of frying food. Just make sure that you wear gloves to protect your hands and use a pair of tongs to lift the lid when flipping the food in the frying pan.

Creative ways to reuse aluminum pie pans in the kitchen: Kitchen clean-up

When dinner is all done and everyone has finished eating, it is now time to clean-up the kitchen. This is when you realize that you don't remember where you left your dust pan. You can fix this problem easily by using an aluminum pie pan as a dust pan.

All you need to do is cut an aluminum pie pan in half; it will do the job quite nicely. This will do the trick until you can get to the store to buy a real one, or just keep using the aluminum pie pan, it's your call.

These handy little pie pans can be really useful for little duties around your kitchen, so don't throw them out, put them to use.

Not for the kitchen, but they are fun for making spaceships! That reminds of this silly article I was surprised they accepted for ANY upfront money, even though it wasn't much . . .
