Creative Ways to Reuse Popsicle Sticks for Painting Projects

Dina Montgomery
Popsicles are a great treat, especially in the summer time when the sun is burning bright. They are tasty treats that kids and adults can enjoy. I still enjoy a Popsicle to this day even though I'm grown. While we are enjoying these tasty treats, after awhile they start adding up. Wouldn't it be great if we could use all those Popsicle sticks for something? We can, there are numerous ways that we can reuse Popsicle sticks for just about anything, like for our painting projects. Here are some creative ways that we can reuse Popsicle sticks for painting projects.

Creative ways to reuse Popsicle sticks for painting projects: Easily identify paint color

You can use them for an easy way to keep track of paint colors. When you have painted your living room walls, how do you possibly remember if you painted it a pale green or light green. There are so many shades of colors available today, it's almost impossible to get that exact color right again. So when you paint, just take a Popsicle stick and dip it into the paint you used for that room or project and let it dry. When the paint has dried, write down on the Popsicle stick the name of the color you used with what room you painted it with. Then when you go to repaint, you know exactly what color you used so you can duplicate it. Easy, no need to make guesses, you have it written down.

You can also use these handy little sticks for paint stirrers. No need to go purchase paint stirrers from the hardware store, you will have an endless supply of them ready for you to use.

Creative ways to reuse Popsicle sticks for painting projects: Paint skimmer

You can take a Popsicle stick and place it on the rim of your paint can to help remove the excess paint off your paint brush. You can use glue to keep the stick in place, and every time you dip your paint brush into the paint can, you can gently run the paint brush against the Popsicle stick to remove the excess paint from the paint brush. When you are done painting for the day, all you need to do is simply remove the stick before resealing the paint can. You can use another fresh Popsicle stick the next time when you paint. It's simple and it didn't cost you a thing.

These are some inexpensive, creative ways that you can reuse Popsicle sticks for any painting project. So when you enjoy that tasty treat, remember don't throw away the stick, you can reuse it later.
