Creative Ways to Make Those 2011 Eyeliner Trends Darker on Your Eyes

Angel Vee
2011 you have some awesome eyeliner trends and colors. Black, red, turquoise, yellow, lime green, and white are amongst your hottest colors, but how do you keep those liners fresh, and make them appear darker on your eyes?

The more you sharpen the eyeliner pencil the more you waste it. Many believe if you keep sharpen the eyeliner it will go on darker, but that's not the case. How can you warm the liner up?

Lighter

This is one of the easiest and most effective methods, but you have to be extremely careful. You want to darken the eyeliner not melt it. By leaving the flame too long on the liner, you can cause other serious problems such as burning yourself, or having melted wax drip all over the place.

In one hand hold the liner, and in the other hand hold the lighter. Flick the lighter on and quickly run it over the eyeliner. The timing should be no longer than 2 seconds. Allow the liner to cool down before applying to the eye.

Hairdryer

Being a beautician my hairdryer has come in handy many times. Place your dryer on medium heat and for 10 seconds place the dryer above the liner. Remove, cool down, and apply on the eyes. If the liner is not going on dark enough, repeat for another 10 seconds.

I know for years many people relied on the thumb and forefinger trick, but sometimes are bodies do not get that warm. This method does not really work well.

With todays eye makeup trends, the more intense the eyeliner the better the look. This is true to a certain point, but being intense does not mean more, it just means darker. Yes, you can use a dark wet shadow in place of a liner, but why not just wet the liner?

Wetting The Eyeliner

Now I don't mean to soak it. Put the hot water on, and allow the water to heat up. Just enough where the steams are coming out, but not where it's too hot on your hand. Place the liner underneath the water quickly, and then remove. Repeat one more time, cool down and place on the eye. By using the hot water it helps to soften the liner up and not melt it like the lighter can.

The trick with eyeliner is to find that one pencil that comes out dark at all times, and really doesn't have to be tampered with too much. One of my favorites is the Rimmel SpecialEyes Eye Liner pencil for under $3.00. I barely have to make it darker. It goes on nice and smooth and no smudges.

The one problem people have using their liner pencil is sharpening it way too much. The more you sharpen the more the tip comes off and there goes that pencil within a few weeks. To solve this problem freeze it.

By placing the liner into the freezer over night it will help keep the liner strong and the tip constantly falling off. This means less sharpening, and a darker fresh result.
