A great room without pillows is not as comfortable as it could be. It is also not nearly as colorful or as visually appealing. Pillows of various textures, sizes, colors and designs add amazing visual appeal and comfort to a great room. They can turn otherwise uninspiring furnishings into stylish decor while providing extra cushioning for armrests and more.
I use throw pillows to add life and vibrancy to my deep blue microfiber sofa and loveseat, but they are great for much more. I have purchased several in varying sizes, textures and colors, but I did not buy them to add color and style alone. My family and friends use every pillow in my great room, and they are every bit as functional as they are stylish.
Use Throw Pillows to Enhance the Top of a Sofa or Loveseat
Many people use throw pillows as the name implies. They simply throw them into the corners of upholstered great room furnishings without considering their placement. They are great for more than just embellishing the corners of sofas and chairs. Throw pillows sometimes take up too much seating space, but they do not have to be placed in corners.
I use four great room throw pillows in a very creative and practical way. I placed them across the top of my loveseat instead of in the corners or across the back of the seating area. When someone wants to use one, it is within easy reach. They also look great. The profile of the loveseat appears higher than it actually is, and it looks far more stylish with striped satin and microfiber pillows in varying shades of blue and brown across the back.
Keep Floor Pillows On Hand for Extra Seating
Is your great room lacking guest seating? Kids do not usually mind where they sit, and throw pillows provide a practical solution for a common problem. It is not necessary to invest in additional great room furnishings. Keep floor pillows on hand for informal seating. They can be stored in a closet when not in use.
Fluff Up Worn Sofa and Chair Arms with Comfy and Stylish New Pillows
The sides of sofa arms can become worn and uncomfortable, especially if they lacked padding to begin with. My great room sofa is a high quality furnishing, but it can be uncomfortable when leaning against the arm. I used stylish throw pillows to make the sofa far more comfortable while adding color and style. I chose medium blue and medium brown microfiber pillows to soften and embellish my deep blue microfiber sofa. The color combination looks outstanding, and my great room furniture is more comfortable than ever before.
