Creative is no new face to the MP3 world for they have been coming out with mp3 players for years now, most famous being the Creative Nomad. The Creative Nomad was a great mp3 player for the time that is for sure. With lots of space and a easy to use interface the Creative Nomad had a lot going for it besides it's size, it was about the size of a CD player. Creative's Zen is a step up in every aspect from the nomad and the size brings it into the same game field as the current mp3 champ, the Apple iPod.
Creative put an full color screen on all it's Creative Zen players, this full size color screen looks just plain amazing! The Creative Zen is a flash based system meaning you can use it as a flash drive and save any type of file on the Creative Zen like you would with a flash drive. Creative also added a SD memory card slot that you can use as extra memory storage to save any of your files on. The Creative Zen requires a normal USB cable to charge and dock with your PC which can be found at any computer store at a decent price unlike the iPod "special" cable.
On the inside is were the Creative mp3 players really set themselves apart from the rest of the field. The interface itself is amazing and vibrant. Navigation with the Creative Zen is easier than any other mp3 player I have ever touched along with a custom EQ, digital radio, and internal memory to flash feature, custom buttons and much more. These mp3 players really come with everything but the kitchen sink.
Overall Creative has really tried to compete with the rest of the mp3 world with the Zen line of players and in my eye's easily shines above any other player on the market right now. The newest Creative Zen players have touch screens, HUGE amounts of space and Xfi sound quality.
Some people say Zen is to thick and can be crushed easier than the iPod. The Zen is a tad thicker that is for sure but I have never had any issue with it being so thick that I crush it in a backpack or while i carry it in my pocket, If the size of the Zen scares you, you just have to be careful with it like any other electronic device.
I would recommend the Creative Zen to anyone thinking of getting a mp3 player for themselves or a gift.
