Creed became a household name in the late 1990's after topping the charts with hits such as "Arms Wide Open," "Higher," and their first album's title track "My Own Prison." Their rise to the top of the music world turned out to be just as fast as their abrupt decline. In 2000 Brian Marshall left the band and in 2004, the final three band members of Creed parted ways.
Scott Stapp went on to create his own solo album and the other three original band members, bassist Brian Marshall, drummer Scott Phillips, guitarist Mark Tremonti teamed up with Myles Kennedy to form the band Alter Bridge. Now, all four original band members will once again be playing on the same stage and working together on their fourth album. From reading comments posted on several websites, it is easy to see that fans have long awaited Creed's "rebirth."
One fan wrote on LiveNation's website, a major concert promotion and production company, "I have been waiting for this reunion for some time now and it's finally here!" Another fan commented, "I have loved Creed since 1996...throughout the many years I have always loved Creed. They have always been my #1 band!" It appears that Creed will receive a warm welcome from fans once they hit the stage. Creed's summer tour will begin August 6th and will run through October 14th. I am personally excited to see Creed back in action! Although, the question still remains whether or not Creed will stay together after their summer tour. In a recent website post to the fans of Alter Bridge, Myles Kennedy made it clear that Alter Bridge would not be breaking up as a result of the Creed reformation,"We have absolutely no plans to break up. Alter bridge forever!" He went on to say that their plans of a world tour and new album scheduled in 2010 were still in place.
For now, both Creed and Alter Bridge will coexist. But at summer end one band will likely have to give way to the other. Although I do like Alter Bridge, my hope is that Creed's summer tour and new album will kindle the flames that once burned in the hearts of the band members and they will choose to stay together. But only time will tell if Creed will ultimately come "full circle" and be the iconic band they once were or if this summer's tour will be the final culmination of Creed for good.

Post a CommentCreed is a band Tallahassee, Florida that became one of the 90s biggest-selling rock bands. Creed disbanded in 2004 after three multi-platinum albums, selling an estimated 35 million records worldwide. The four original members, Scott, Mark, Tom, and Ryan reunited in 2009 and created a new album called Full Circle. In April 2010 they began The 20-10 Tour to perform their new album. It sounds as though they need a "rebirth"...at least Scott Strapp does, considering he has been arrested for domestic assault with intent to commit a felony, was a participant in a sex tape, and was arrested for public drunkenness.
Ahh! I love Creed! :)
