Recently our house was invaded by spiders. A good many of them were brown recluses. My husband was bit twice. Luckily he isn't very sensitive to the bites so he just got sick. I'm very allergic so I was lived in fear. To release the stress I wrote this silly poem.
Creepy crawlies
Of day and night
Why do you come
And give a fright?
What do you want?
What do you seek?
Why do you turn
Our lives so bleak?
You made us sick
From bites you took.
Gave us fever
And chills that shook.
Fellow creature,
Don't make us kill.
We can't afford
The extra bill.
Keep to yourself
And so will we.
All God's creatures
Should remain free.

Post a CommentVery cute. I love spiders -- to a point.
Brown recluse can be very dangerous. Your husband is lucky!
Very cool...:0)
glad to see you back. I guess I am going to return as well. Love your writing
This gave me a chill just thinking about it. I am terrified of spiders. I can't even stand to look at a picture of spider! Excellent poem on a scary subject. I'm sorry you've had to deal with this.
Call an exterminator ASAP...Don't fool around with your health.
Great poem - frankly spiders make me feel creepy :)
A marvellously entertaining and spooooooky poem. Thanks!
EEKK! I hate spiders. A friend of mine got bitten by a brown recluse. She did not know it and a sore appeared on her leg. It was much like a poisonous snake bite, it left a big scar. Don't underestimate spiders. :-) They give me the creepy crawlies, too.
YIKES! I feel for you Charlie! We have been invaded by some not so dangerous black spiders and but mostly in the basement. Outside however we have an abundance of wolf spiders, a type of funnel web that have coated virtually every shrub/plant and created multilevel comunities on every inside corner you can find; including the corners created by the stone walls and planters touching the ground. Crazy stuff this fall! I'm very allergic to bites too. I can't even begin to imagine what would happen if I got bit by a recluse, mosquitos cause me enough grief. I hope you can steer clear but if it comes down to survival, stomp them!
