Crest 3D White Whitestrips Professional Effects

Susan Slade
In our household we have tried so many of the whitening toothpastes, and have found them to keep the teeth a similar color, but really no improvement.

In the mail came a sample sachet, which contained Crest 3D White Whitestrips Professional Effects. This is a dental whitening treatment, and contains 1 upper and 1 lower strip.

Len has little teeth, and they are stained. When you get older it doesn't matter that he has never smoked, doesn't drink tea, or coffee. The teeth just seem to change color.

Len has used so many different toothpastes and I suggested he try these. He didn't seem that interested, so I said that I would do it for him, and all he needed to do, was keep them on for 30 minutes.

The Whitestrips are completely clear. They are on clear plastic, and all you have to do it pull them off. The top one is two and three quarters of an inch long, and the bottom one two and a quarter inches long.

So Len opened his mouth and I pulled off the top strip. I then placed in over his front top teeth, and then he pushed it to the side ones. He then lifted the bottom of this strip, and pushed it to the back of his teeth.

The bottom one was easier to do. I started it for him, and he continued to push both edges to the sides, and then loop it over to the back of the bottom teeth.

I asked him what it felt like, and he told me that it was probably like my false teeth. I told him that after the first month of having new ones, you forget you have them.

He sat watching television while we waited for the 30 minutes to pass.

Getting them off was more difficult that putting them on. We both tried to get a grip of the bottom of the strip, at the front, and it didn't want to budge. Then Len went inside his mouth, and managed to pull it to the top. From here he was able to remove it. The second strip was easy to remove.

I asked Len how his teeth felt, and he said that he needed to clean them. I am not sure if it left a sticky feeling, or that he was conscious of having had them on.

One 30 minute session didn't do anything for Len's teeth, but that was expected. I asked him if he wanted me to buy a box of 20, upper and lower strips, as I had a $10 off coupon, that came with the sample.

He said 'No', as he didn't have the patience, or inclination, to use these everyday.

Ingredients:

"PVP, PEG-8, Water, Hydrogen Peroxide, Acrylates Copolymer, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Saccharin."

I personally think that if you are young, and your teeth are starting to discolor, then these would work for you. However, you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

These don't come cheap as you can pay anything from $35 to $50 for a 20 day supply.

I tried something similar to this before I got porcelain crowns, and I didn't like using them either.
