Cricket Wireless Adds More Services to Unlimited Prepaid Plans for Free

Cricket Wireless Ads More Features to Prepaid Plans to Entice New Subscribers

Prepaid wireless companies like Cricket Wireless are experiencing what you might refer to as their 15 minutes of fame. But the interesting thing is that this 15 minutes is going to extend to a much longer period of time as prepaid cell phone really begin to take hold in the marketplace.

Prepaid companies have (not so quietly) released very attractive and affordable unlimited plans since the beginning of the year-and cost-conscious consumers have taken notice. When there's money to be saved, people will notice. We have also experienced a situation where prepaid carriers are fighting one another for more subscribers. Fighting might be too strong a word, but to claim that prepaid wireless carriers like Boost Mobile, Tracfone Straight Talk, MetroPCS (read more details about this plan at the link), and Leap Wireless' Cricket Wireless are engaged in a price war would not be too far from the truth.

And the truth is that you can now get more for your money with prepaid phones. Did I mention that many of these plans are Unlimited? This means just what you think it means: you get unlimited talk time, unlimited text messages, and even good amounts of data usage and sometimes data storage all at an affordable price. But be careful, roaming charges may apply. That's why you want to read the fine print well and know your local coverage map.

Cricket Wireless recently announced that it is adding more services to its existing unlimited prepaid plans for no added charge.

Read more details about the different Cricket Wireless prepaid plans here.

The $40 Cricket Wireless plan comes with unlimited talk time, text (and picture) messages. Now it also comes with free information service and web access.

The $45 Cricket Wireless plan comes with all of the above features, but in addition, subscribers to this plan receive unlimited email, unlimited data storage and backup, and 30 minutes per month.

The $55 Cricket Wireless plan now includes an additional 200 minutes roaming, which brings up a good point that you need to pay attention to when you buy any cell phone plan.

Prepaid Wireless Plan Warnings

Prepaid plans are affordable and will save you money-as long as your usage habits fit the prepaid mold. The fact is there are extra charges, like roaming, that can add up insanely fast, so you always want to monitor your usage habits and make sure you are staying inside the lines of the plan. Otherwise, you might want to consider finding a new prepaid provider.

The unlimited plans I have written about, like the ones offered by Cricket Wireless, are very well priced as long as your cell phone habits fit the mold. That being said, you also do have to purchase a phone that works with the plan you end up choosing, so there are additional costs. If you are looking for an affordable cell phone plan, you may be able to find an offer that works perfectly for you from one the companies offering unlimited plans. There are some competitive deals out there, which is always a good thing for consumers.

  • Cricket Wireless added 200 minutes of roaming to its $55 prepaid plan.
  • Cricket competes directly with MetroPCS and Tracfone prepaid.
  • Unlimted prepaid plans are very affordable and attractive right now.
Cricket Wireless (Leap Wirelss) is a possible contender to merge with MetroPCS, another regional prepaid service provider.
