There have been a series of locker break-ins at Long Island University. The first reported incident occurred September 28 when a student had left their belongings in a locker that did not have a door.

Another victim's wallet was stolen from his locker at the university gym on October 8.

The gym, located on University Plaza, had another locker break-in on October 14. This time an Apple laptop and textbooks were stolen.

These strings of campus robberies occurred right after the campus was praised for being safe. According to the Daily Beast, Long Island University's Downtown Brooklyn campus was ranked as the third safest college in the country.
