This is the beginning of Crime Scene, created by SouthPeak Games, an adventure game much like Phoenix Wright with a CSI style twist and fully utilizing the DS technology to create an experience as real as possible.
Crime Scene begins as Simmons speaks to authorities about the murder/suicide of the ex-forensics specialist he has now replaced and his wife. From that point you are able to choose from multiple dialog options to learn more about the situation and what has happened. After you are introduced to the layout of the case, you're able to use the stylus to survey around the apartment for any and all clues. As you scan around, the reticule will change and highlight anything that could possibly be a clue.
You will find the husband's corpse on the floor, in a pool of his own blood streaming from a head wound. Evidence photos are snapped and then the forensics will begin. As you explore the room, you will slowly build an inventory of all acquired clues to easily track the progress made as you go, along with your stock of tools available to use during your investigation.
One of the most interesting things about this game is the level of detail required for you to accomplish tasks. In past games, you just run around, clicking and picking up items. But in Crime Scene they bring the feeling of really doing this to life. For instance, if you decide to check an area for fingerprints, the stylus will turn into a brush that you dip into powder. You then rub the powder on the print and blow off excess using the DS's built in Microphone. From there you will place a strip of tape over the entire print, rubbing the stylus across it to press it down, and pick the strip back up and put it into an evidence bag. Tedious, a bit, highly entertaining, definitely.
As you go, you will gain and lose "Credibility" based on your performance through each crime scene, if you drop your credibility to zero, your fired. This means that you will want to make sure to pay attention to every step of the fine detail in this game, and it is proving to be more than enough game to demand such attention.
You will do everything from collect blood samples on a swab for chemical analysis (Which will require your coordination to correctly swab, test, and bag) to wiping down areas for fingerprints, to examining murder weapons. The days of "click B" are over, and this is a perfect example of what the future of gaming has in store.
