Capital punishment is legal in Singapore. According to a senior government official, a survey had revealed that 95% of Singaporeans felt that the death penalty should stay as it had helped to keep Singapore safe and secure.
Many Singaporeans feel that the strict laws in the country go a long way to safeguard the interests and protect the lives of the law-abiding majority. Otherwise, without those laws, the rights of the good majority would be undermined by the criminal antics of a small minority.
The Singapore government holds the view that the rights of the larger community take precedence over the minority who chooses the criminal and destructive routes.
Without any doubt, Singapore is a very safe place. You can walk along the street at any time of the day or night without any concern. Many visitors to this little island state feel the same way.
Besides capital punishment, we have corporal punishment in Singapore for offences such as rape, robbery, vandalism, illegal overstaying, rioting, assault, knowingly employing more than 5 illegal immigrants, drug trafficking, outrage of modesty, etc.
A more complete list of the cane-able offences is available in the below link:

So, do you want your rights to freedom from crime to be protected? How? One good way is to provide a really strong signal to those potential infringers that they have to pay a really high price and that includes caning and death.
Singapore is a great example. Though it is viewed as an autocratic country by some, it has created a safe, secure and progressive environment where the citizens enjoy a high standard of living and a good quality of life.

Post a CommentYou should be ashamed of yourself. How about suffering the violence yourself. You'll feel the pain and terror of the authorities. Still, there is no reason to just simply punish them. It is violent and inhumane to use such punishments against them.
