Criminal Leaves Identifcation at the Crime Scene

Apparently Criminals Aren't Getting Any Smarter

Apparently criminals aren't getting smarter with time. In fact, it seems that criminals aren't even trying to not get caught anymore, at least in this instance anyway.

A man identified as Irving Batiz, age 24, went to buy an drum music machine from a store last Sunday at about 6:45 p.m. Upon going into the store and looking at the product, Batiz decided he would rather not pay for the electronic drum music machine. Once Batiz came to the conclusion he wanted the item for free, he pulled out a gun and robbed the clerk at gunpoint of the machine, yet left one key piece of evidence behind that led to his obvious arrest.

Irving Batiz had left his credit card at the scene of the crime where he had stolen the item, not a smart move at all. Once Batiz left the store and was out of sight, the clerk called Nassau county police to come investigate.

Once the police officers arrived they examined the credit card and found that it belonged to the robber-- Irving Baltiz of 128 Elm Street, Valley Stream. With what seemed to be all the evidence they needed, the police went to Irving Batiz's house to confront and arrest him. Upon arriving at Batiz's house, police found the electronic drum machine still sitting in Batiz's car. It seemed as if Batiz wasn't even trying to cover up the robbery in any sort of way. The sheer laziness of this criminal gives all criminals a bad name, as if they hadn't had one already.

Batiz is being charged with first-degree robbery. Robbery is the confrontational unlawful taking of another persons property to convert it to your own use. Batiz is also currently being held in the Nassau County jail. Batiz's bail has been set at $200,000 bond or $100,000 cash bail. (Newsday)

Irving Batiz is set to appear in court as soon. Although every person that has being prosecuted for a crime in innocent till proven guilty, I think it is safe to say that Batiz is, and will be found easily guilty of the crimes he has committed in the field of robbery. It is a sad state when someone must steal, especially when they have the means to either immediately buy a product, or they have the means to save up for the desired product. Infringing on the rights of a person, store, or even corporation is heinous in the eyes of the criminal justice system, and I believe that Batiz will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

  • Irving Batiz went to a store to buy an 'eletric drum musis machine'.
  • Batiz, thinking he doesn't have to really pay, pulls a gun on the clerk and steals the machine.
  • Batiz, idiotically, left his credit card at the scene of the crime, leading to his arrest.

How true, criminals today do not think about what they are about to do. There is no such thing as a "perfect crime". Criminals always leave some forensic evidence behind which leads to their capture and arrest. Some criminals are just plain "dumb" in every sense of the word. We recently have had some bank robberies in our area which were well publicized on the local news. A video tape that was extracted from the banks surviellance cameras revealed that the bank robber DID NOT disguise himself-his profile was clearly visable on the video tapes that were taped of the crime scene. Once aired on the local news-the law enforcement officials had the identity of the bank robber within minutes of the telecast- thanks to several viewers who recognized him. In short, there are some really inexperienced people committing crimes and the crimes that they are about to commit are not well thought out. Seems like criminals these days are " flying by the seat of their pants".
