Crochet Pattern: Fingerless Gloves with Ties

Phebe A. Durand
I love gloves nearly as much as I love hats. I could have hundreds of them and still want more, still thrill at coming up with a new pair that I never want to part with. And what better gloves than fingerless gloves? The little things allow for perfect finger movement while keeping the rest of your hands warm, which makes them great for sitting at the computer typing ... and just as good for driving.

The problem with many crochet patterns for fingerless gloves is that they come out looking so masculine. Of course, there's nothing wrong with that if that's the look you're going for. But I'm a girly-girl. I want something soft and pretty, without looking so cute that it belongs on a baby.

These fingerless gloves are super soft, made with a delicate-looking leaf stitch and accented by shells. The wrist closes with a series of ties that give it a little more "edge" than they'd otherwise have. And best of all, the entire pattern is done in single crochet which means that it's easy for someone learning to crochet and extremely quick for the more advanced crochet artist.

  • Try making the gloves even more special by embroidering on them.
  • Ribbon makes a completely different accent than cording.
  • For more color, borders and the thumb can be done in different shades.

I have to bookmark this page. My daughter asked me to look for fingerless gloves. I'll have to ask her if this is what she meant.

It was a very nice touch to note the past problems you'd had and then offer a solution - that caught my attention!
