*Caron Christmas Glitter
2 1/2 oz Main Color (MC)
1 1/2 oz Contrasting Color (CC)
Or You may use any worsted weight (a #4) yarn
Hook size H (5.0mm)
Tapestry Needle
Scissors
Pattern Notes:
Unless otherwise stated, ch 2 counts as a hdc.
Work all hdc over hdc, and all tr over tr.
To work half double crochet (hdc):
Yarn over, insert hook in stitch, yarn over, pull through stitch, yarn
over, pull through all 3 loops on hook.
To work hdc color change:
Yarn over, insert hook in stitch, yarn over, pull through stitch, yarn
over, drop first color, with new color, pull through all 3 loops on
hook.
To work treble crochet (tr):
Yarn over 2 times, insert hook in stitch, yarn over, pull through
stitch, ( yarn over, pull through 2 loops) 3 times.
To work tr color change:
Yarn over 2 times, insert hook in stitch, yarn over, pull through
stitch, ( yarn over, pull through 2 loops) 2 times, drop first
color, with new color, pull through last 2 loops.
Decrease (dec):
( insert hook in next st, yarn over, pull through st) 2 times, yarn
over, pull through all 3 loops on hook.
Increase (inc): Work 2 sts in one st.
Hdc dec color change : yarn over hook, insert hook in next st, pull up a loop, yarn over, insert hook in next st, drop first color, pull new color through all 5 loops on hook.
INSTRUCTIONS
Rnd 1: With MC, ch 40, join with a sl st to first ch, ch2 hdc in each
rem ch, join to top of beg ch-2, (40 hdc).
Rnd 2: Ch 2,hdc in next st, hdc color change in nex st, tr color change in next st, * hdc in each of next 2 st, hdc color change in next st, tr color change in next st, rep from * around,join with a sl st in beg ch-2, (30 hdc + 10 tr = 40)
Rnd 3-19: Rep round 2.
Rnd 20, Rep round 2 except at last st, work tr without color change, sl st, in beg ch-2.
Cut MC, leaving a 3 inch yarn tail, do not cut white.
Heel:
Row 1: Ch 1, sc in same st and in each of next 19 st, (20)
Row 2: Dec, sc across to within last 2 sc, dec, ch 1. Turn. (18 )
Rows 3-9: Rep row 2. At the end of row 9, 4 sts rem.
Row 10: Dec 2 times. ( 2).
Row 11: Inc in each st, (4).
Row 12-19: Inc in first st, sc across to last st, inc in last st. At the
end of row 19 there will be 20 sts.
Row 20: Sc in each st across. (20). Fasten off.
Foot:
Rnd 1: Attach MC with a sl st in first MC hdc on left side of heel, ch 2, work in pattern across the next 20 sts, work in pattern across the 20 sc of last heel row, sl st in first ch-2.
Rnd 2- 8: Rep round 2 of stocking.
Round 9: Ch 2, hdc dec color change, tr color change,
( hdc in next, hdc dec color change, tr color change ) 8x , hdc in next st, hdc dec color change, tr, do not color change, sl st in beg ch-2.
Rnd 10: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each st around, (30).
Rnd 11: *Sc in each of next 4 st, dec, rep from * around. (25).
Rnd 12: *Sc in each of next 3 st, dec, rep from * around. (20)
Rnd 13: Dec 10 x, sl st in first st, ( 10). Fasten off..
Top trim:
Fold stocking so that heel is on left.
Rnd 1: Starting in top left st of beg foundation ch, ch 2, hdc in each st around, sl st to beg ch-2.
Rnd 2: Ch 2, hdc in each st, join with a sl st to beg ch-2, ch 10 slst
in same st for hanging loop., sl st in each of next 2 sts. Fasten off.
